Question How to test LEWMAR Windlass

    I have a Lewmar 550 sport " not a free fall model " I replaced it with a better model 700 ,,,
It had stopped running & was Gunked up from my lack of maintenance..
Now that it's cleaned & greased I can hook it straight to 12V & it will run..
My question How can I test to see if it runs in both directions ?
I'm afraid to reverse the polarity to the motor & their is just two wires ...
Is it good to go ?

    Thanks in advance Craig

I had a 700 Pro-Fish, which was the freefall unit. It had to spin in reverse to get into freefall mode. There were only 2 wires going to the unit. Reversing the polarity with a switch runs it backwards.

The only difference between the Standard and freefall units is the external assembly that engages the rode. Motors and wiring are identical.

    Thanks for the reply

I found the The 550 uses a reversible switch but the NEW 700 used a solenoid & controller
