Default Oil brand reccomondations for a new 4stroke? Synthetic?

Just bolted on my new Suzuki 20hp 4 Stroke. Manual calls for SAE 10W40. Any reccomondations for this virgin engine? Synthetic?

Unless your owners manual says not to, use a synthetic oil. The reason is synthetic oil cleans the motor much better and does not break down as quick.

I prefer valvoline myself too. Synthetic is good for the reasons iwe mentioned.

For gear oil I use only quicksilver high performance 90w. Good stuff.

I've always used Valvoline for my motorcycles and four wheelers. So I'll be using it when it comes time to change my power head oil. For the lower unit I've always used the quicksilver wally world. It's always worked well for me.

I would breakin on non-synth, say 25 hours, then switch to full synth. If the rings don't fully seat during breakin they never will. Whatever the dealer puts in from scratch should be good for breakin.

I just got a new Zuke also and break in is 20 hours. Spoke with the dealer they said use that for the 20 hour break in period to seat everything properly then change oil and filter. I use synthetic in everything as well and I will ask them them what they recommend for synthetic oils.

Another thing to note is that the lower unit oil is also break in oil so that needs to be changed at the 20 hour mark as well. For that I use the Lucas full synthetic in there.
