hey folks,
looking for info on making some small patches/repairs to fibreglass on my boat. Most are old screw holes where I've changed accessories. Some are on areas that are vertical services (shiny), others are in the decking (matte). I've checked the West Marine catalog and have not found anything specific to patching screw holes, more scratches or cracks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Marine Tex!

I received a great tutorial from some of our other members on finishing the "glossy" part. Give me a few minutes and I will find that old thread.

Ken;

I used Marine Tex on the screw holes from the trim tabs I lost this summer. Worked very well and you can tell where I made the repair once I point it out to you. I didn't have to buff it out like you would have to with gel coat.

I had about an 1.5 inch long 1/8 inch wide slightly recessed area in the deck, that I filled with it also. Used it more like spackling on that flaw. Lightly sanded before and after the application. Good as new.

Ken, Again Marine Tex though make sure your mixing ratios are exact as this effects cure time due to the chemical cure vs other products that "dry" The stuff sands like bondo. I used it to fix a fiberglass deck box where the corner had chipped.
