I have read the post on the storage and adding a cleat up front to tie off on. I would like to know what you guys are using at the end of your rode to attach to the boat on the DLV models. Most anchor boxes have an eyelet to tie off to. pic's would be great. watch the 2009 DLV's come out with an anchor box.

Wes, I use a garden hose box I bought from WalMart for about 20 bucks. It holds 300 feet of 1/2" line, all spooled up real neat and doubles as an extra seat. Best part is it all very durable plastic so it won't scratch anything on the boat, won't rust, and there's a small tray under the lid that I drop my anchor chain in to keep everything (except the anchor) neatly inside the box. I keep the anchor stored under the front deck, ready to hook up when needed. This is the line I take with I go offshore. For inshore fishing, I have a 3/8”, 100 ft line I carry under the front deck next to the anchor. Works for me.

That is a great idea.Hpw do you attache it on the floor, or you have it loose?
Do you need 1/2" rope? I use 1/2" rope on my 33 grady.I thought 3/8 should be fine for skiff up to 23' maybe even 25' .

I keep it loose, set up in front of the console. It's heavy enough that it doesn't move around much. Probably don't need 1/2 but I had it left over from my last (seacraft) boat and the larger diameter is (naturally) stronger, (helps to pull the anchor loose when caught on an underwater obstruction) and it's easier on the hands.

Thats a great idea there. definetley gona keep that one in the back of my head. Right now I use the old milk carton cut in the right places to hold rope and anchor under the bench seat. Willie

I missed this bit of 1stSarge ingenuity. Too big for mine, but still glad it came back up. Kinda encourages you to look "outside the box". Like a washdown coil hose - white $20 at West Marine - green $9 at Home Depot. I guess there is a difference, but I'll worry about that when the green on wears out.

By the way, at this point anybody who says "look outside the box" is probably unable to. So I take that back.;D
