Ahoy*It's been a while since the last gathering. I'll be up to Swansboro the last weekend in February for a little golf tournament. Might even drag my skiff up there if the weather looks good.*fingerscrossed* Anybody going to be around and interested in getting a bite to eat and maybe a pop or two ? *Cheers*

Gregg;

I can't make it. *surrender*

But, if you want a good pizza with your pop, head to the Trattoria. Nice folks, great pizza and a good view. You might even catch a ride with some of those Crystal Coast/Emerald Isle CSO's out fishing the bridge.

BTW, I do not own stock in the Trattoria, but I've eaten several pizzas there. *thumbsup*

*yay* Looks like we're getting quite a bit of interest Gunnar *thumbsup*

I haven't been there yet, but the place Dad2RMH2 suggested sounds good to me, or any other place you know about in the area will work too, as far as I'm concerned *Woot*

This will be our first Captain's Meeting in the Swansboro area and a good choice for many of our local members, I think. I'm looking forward to seeing (or meeting for the first time) everyone who can make it. For those CSO members that aren't yet CCC of CSO members, now's a good time to join our little group of local boaters/fisherman, or, if you prefer, come on out to this gathering and see how you like it, before you commit to membership *Cheers*

Count me in. Tratoria's makes good pizza but may be a little small for the crowd that is wanting to show. Rucker John's on Emerald Isle has a nice room that will seat a small group.

Pitch is right. If there is a large crowd, Trattoria's would be too small. RJ's or even T&W's will be able to hold you and both would be good food. Ya'll have a good time. *thumbsup*

No problem Gregg, considering you make your home and your living (during the week) is a fair piece from Swansboro *thumbsup* I've eaten at T&W's (good chow/service), but not at RJ's but I'll take the word of any member that recommends it, to be the same. I don't think it matters so much to most members where we have the gathering, so long as we can get a little space for our group without loosing ourselves among the crowd... a corner spot with a few tables thrown together, a separate room, or the like. Might be best to check with the (selected) location manager to see they can reserve a spot for (what looks like might be +/- a dozen members).

Since we're not about to risk leaving you out of this thing, especially since it was your idea in the first place ;D... am I correct to assume that the date you will be available (in the evening) is Saturday, 27Feb ? Any particular start/end time?... maybe block off a couple hours... the first hour for those that want to have dinner and the second for those folks, plus the members that might want to show later for a drink and the usual fishin'/skiffin' talk???

If we can get a few of these minor details out of the way (place, date, time, and approx # of participants), I'm going to ask if anyone here (that lives in the Swansboro/Emerald Isle area and knows or can recon the chosen restaurant) would be so kind as to volunteer to coordinate with the restaurant management, to help us set up this gathering.

OK then fellows, without serious objection, how does Saturday at 1900 (7PM) sound for a starting date/time? Place in or near Swansboro, but still to be determined.

Though it hasn't exactly been said, (and with the approval of Gunnar, and again with no serious objection from y'all) I think this here particular meeting should be classified a "Captain's" meeting. That meaning, it's for the "Captains". I personally have no objection to anyone bringing their wife or girlfriend, or for that matter their kids, so long as y'all appreciate the primary purpose of these "Captain's" meetings is to meet and talk fishin' and boating, and many of us will be tipping a few... and the language and subject matter might not be especially suitable for some of the ladies and younun's... so you'll have to be the judge of whether it's a good idea to bring your own family members ;D And with that in mind, 1900 would give those that might have to work that day, time to get home, have dinner with the family (at home or elsewhere) if they want, change clothes and still make it to our 2000 (8PM) BS & EBS.

Justus, I sent out your membership welcoming letter (by email) yesterday evening... welcome aboard the CCC of CSO *Cheers*

Goat, I got your PM requesting membership this morning *thumbsup* ... will be sending your membership info to you soon.

*009* I just realized some of our members who spoke of wanting to attend this meeting, live a considerable distance from Swansboro... so have decided to change the date to Saturday... same time. That should also be a non-workday for most, I would assume.

Sure JAW, bring him on, and nobody says he has to own a skiff... if he likes to fish the Crystal Coast area and if he's anything like you, register him up on CSO.com and we'll sign him up with the CCC on the spot *Cheers* ;D

Pitch, since you're the point man, we may as well settle on T&G's for the location. Maybe you can check with them for that Saturday night, just to make sure they ain't holdin' a state arm-wrestlin' contest or something else there that night, and can get our crew set up in a bunch all by ourselves... more or less ;D

*009* *thumbsup* Pitch has checked with T&W's and we're locked on for the below time and date:

Too Tall;

From the weather report, you're going to be driving through at least 200 miles of snow, 1-2 feet of snow. And if you leave early Saturday you might make it there in 20 hours. *004* Of course you could fly, oh wait you can't. Most of the airlines have canceled any flight in the mid-atlantic. *clonk*

Ever been through DC in the snow? I have and it isn't pretty. *surrender*

For me anything north of Quantico, VA, south of Maryland Rt 40, east of Leesburg, VA, and west of Bowie MD is DC. And I guess you can go around it, but if you're on the beltway, you're in it.

Safe travels! Enjoy it while you're down there, it's really a nice area. My mom and my brother live in Cape Carteret.

Redneck

Naw, no particular "theme" this time, unless there is something Gunnar, you, or one of the members can think would be of particular interest. As usual, after dinner, I thought we'd open it up with short introductions by the members (who we are, where we're from, and any particular area of our region we generally fish, or would like to learn about fishing), and which skiff (if we own one) we fish from. I'm anxious to hear any concerns (pro/con) about the CCC, or any ideas or recommendations y'all might have for the chapter this year. And of course, if there is anything our members would like to have me address with Harry, (about CSO.com matters) I'd me happy to forward those concerns and/or recommendations to him on behalf of our chapter members. Other than those standard agenda items, I'm looking forward to seeing some old friends and meeting some new ones *Woot*

Not to many flounder around right now and when you catch one it is a fluke;D... though Dave did put me on to a nice flounder about this time last year, except it was about 30 miles from the hill rotflmao

Probably the slowest part of the year for fishing around here(for me anyway).
Offshore bottom fishing is good if the weather will let you get out.
Redfish in the surf maybe, stripers up around New Bern maybe, trout or reds in the marsh if the water has warmed up maybe.

To all CCC,

I'm glued to all your posts about your gathering and I read Harry and Dave's information about CCC.

First, I sent an email to Dave's address listed in Harry's note regarding CCC and I requested participation in CCC. The posting must have an old address for Dave, I received a message that the email could not be delivered.

Secondly, I'd like to invite myself to your Swansboro mtg., if that's o.k.? Still looking at arrangements but I'm very interested in attending.

I don't do a whole lote of posting or replying cause my typing sucks and I am not that great with technology but I do read the site often. By the way, I got out yesterday and ran from Gottschalk down the river and hit the ICW all the way to the topsail bridge--it was nice out a bit choppy on the way back but worth it. today and tomorrow looks alright as well. Thanks for forwarding my request for participation to Dave. As I said, I look forward to joining and look forward to meeting folks with similar interests; i.e, C/S boating and fishing.

How's fishing in your area this time of the year? We'll have to get together some time.

Sure you're welcome foursum *thumbsup* Can't say what went wrong with my email address... checked it today and it looks good to me *006* Not to worry though, I'll send you an email and you can "Reply" back with what I need to get you all signed up *Cheers*

Absolutely mdr5... before you leave the area, bring yourself on out and meet some of your fellow skiffers *Cheers* Don't know if you've seen this thread yet... something you might want to consider if you're going to be transferring to VA soon http://carolinaskiffowner.com/showthread.php?t=9801

Are kids OK? I will have a 12, 13 and 14 yo boy with me.

I can look up, but do any of you folks know of a kid friendly hotel to stay at? If it is cold, but calm, I will have my youngest along too (3 yo skiff).

Heading to Jordan Lake today to catch shad. Last March I used Jordan Lake shad and caught over 30 dog fish in the turning basin. It would be great for the kids to get some tugs on their line if the weather holds.

It's completely up to you Bill, whether to bring your boys. I don't see what the harm will be, especially if you won't be hangin' around too long after dinner  *Cheers* I covered it some in post #23 above *thumbsup*

I personally don't know any places to stay in the Emerald Isle/Swansboro area, (closest to T&W's) but I'm sure there are many... I just am not familiar with 'em. If you're planning on fishing the turn basin, (MHC/BFT area) there are some nice quiet places on Ft Macon Rd, not too far from the "circle" in Atlantic Beach. Winter rates are pretty decent too, and some have slips that they will let you use during your stay. I think they are all "kid friendly", but was there something in particular you had in mind for the boys? Let me know and I'll look up the name of the places and you can call to check on accommodations, availability, and rates *thumbsup*

I was following this thread and thought it would be a nice touch to call down to the bar and have them set you all up with a some buckets of corona's. The guy told me they didn't have buckets, so I asked that he set eveyone up with a round on me.

I almost forgot *001* and happened to be on CSO at 8:15 last night and saw the thread.... *008*

I asked the guy on the phone "if there was a fishing club having a meeting" He said yup, sure thing. After finding out they didn't have the buckets of coronas for the tables, he told me to hold on a second. He came back and asked what I wanted to do cause there were like 16 people and only 8 were drinking beer.

I said to set everyone up with a round of drinks of whatever they were drinking. I assumed even if you were drinking ice tea or cokes he would take care of it. Sorry pal ....... *kickrock*
