Well it only took me 8 months, but a long time ago i asked about rod preferences from you guys. Well here is the result...

6'9'' medium action fast tip spinning rod
6 guides plus tip top
hardened guide rings to hold up to braided line
stainless guides with coating to resist corrosion (saltwater)
Extremely lightweight
Cork handle
Graphite reel seat with graphite arbors to ensure sensitivity from the rod to the handle
and thats it!

Im a big fan of diamond butt wraps, i think others are cool, but since i was a kid with my first rod i loved simple but ornate diamond wraps....so here is the new inshore rod!

That's beautiful work Fayetteguy... I want one too *Cheers*

I just got my new component catalog from Mud Hole ;D What I really need is a new deep water jigging rod to replace the store-bought one I broke last summer, smack dab at the top of the foam grip *001*

Well, i really appreciate the compliments, i started the color preservers tonight, and the epoxy begins tomorrow. Im debating holding off on the epoxy because the temps are going from 50 tonight, to 26 tomorrow night, back up to 54 2 days after that! I am working up in a loft and im worried about temperature variations, but we will see.

Dave i can say that everything i have came from mud hole, they are great to deal with if you havent before, a top notch company for sure, and very high end customer service.

Yeah, definitely need warm temps for curing epoxy. For most epoxy, 80-90 is ideal, 70 will work but much slower cure, and below 60, it may not cure at all. If you have a spare bathroom, with heat and vent, maybe you could quarantine it in there for a couple hours until the epoxy sets and gasses out, then move it to a common area in the house to finish curing. Good luck... can't wait to see the finished rod *thumbsup*

Well was able to make a big box around my work area and keep the temp constant. After Color preserver on the threads and the epoxy it darkened the thread just a tad but i think it turned out well! Here is the final butt wrap

Looks good from here, just needs a striper or red pulling on the other end is all the addition I can see.*003*

Very nice Fayetteguy *Cheers*

I tried to get a CSO rodbuilder to make me one with CarolinaSkiffOwner.com near the handle but the deal fell through & I never heard back from him...... *kickrock*

I thought that would be

Your work looks very nice and looks as if you could make a living at it if you wanted too *flag*

marty,

When i was a kid and got my first rod from my grandad it had a diamond wrap on it, then when i really got into fishing at 20yrs old i bought my first "real" rod and it had the diamond wrap. I guess it is sentimental but i just love it. I like some of those intricate designs as well but for a "duty" fishing rod i love the diamonds!

Thanks for the compliments!

Well was able to make a big box around my work area and keep the temp constant.

;D I was going to suggest something like that... build a tent around the rod and warm it with an electric lightbulb. I didn't though, because I would have hated to learn you blew the house up if a spark from the light switch touched off a perfect mixture of fuel and air that might accumulate inside the tent *001*

Anyways, I've always admired folks that take on the challenge to do and build things for themselves, and I'm glad you gotterdone... your work looks outstanding to me. *Cheers*
