After not using the skiff in over 2.5 months due to work and weather, I started to take it for a ride this past Sunday. When I hooked up and started to pull out of my drive way I noticed my trailer side lights were on, my headlights were off. Since that never happens I got out to check my break lights/turn signals. Tow vehicle lights were fine, trailer lights.....no life except for the side lights. I checked the plug a few times, no deal. I checked the wires all the way back to the license plate and to my surprise my wires were not cut or pulled apart, they were chewed through, on both sides. I have a 2009 Wesco dipped galvanized and the wires are neatly flush against the frame and double wrapped around a bolt before they drop to the brake lights. They were chewed through at the rear corners of the trailer after the bolt, behind the beams. There was no slack in the wires so what ever did it was small enough to sit on the frame and go to work. looks like each of the wires were chewed through separately and the coating is frayed proving they werent pulled apart or cut. I'm thinking racoons, field mice, or squirrels. Anyone ever experience this?
Thanks for listening,

Alex

I would say mice or squirrels, or both, which ever you have the most of. I had squirrels cut my service drop to my house a couple of years ago. I started shooting them with my 22 and told them the killing would continue until the attitudes improved. I stopped at 27, then caught four more in traps and took them to my father-in-law. There's probable twenty five outside as I sit here.

squirrels are vandals IMO. they used to eat my wooden deck rails at my last house. get a cat.

Nope, never had that problem but you might try a different color wire... I think the pecan color of the wire insulation fooled 'em rotflmao

JAW, next time you need your squirrel population thinned out, give me a call... them critters are tasty *Woot*
