A buddy of mine asked me about an anchoring system that lets you fish off an anchor & float ball, but if you need to chase down a fish and not pull up the anchor you simply pull a cord or release snap and drift away, After your done fishing you can return to the ball and hook back up to the anchor.

He said a lot of guys use this down in the south more so than up here. Any systems better than others? Any of you guys have any links I can send him? I found this one, but it was all I could find on it. http://www.kitchenwears.com/anchor2.htm

Thanks in advance

I use that system, but employ the KISS principle....since I almost always have someone fishing with me now (few of my fishing partners own a boat) I just tied a bouy to the end of the anchor line, and if we need to chase a fish, the person thats not hooked up un-cleats the line, tosses the bouy over and drives the boat. All of my fishing partners get a crash course (no pun intended) on operating the boat in case of an emergency.

I have not personally seen any snap release systems, but I'm sure there is something out there. Might try a search or post at thehulltruth.com
