We found our bait fairly easy this a.m.;but the winds have already started and good.15 to 20 knots! Our first stop and Linda is tied into this keeper. With an slow bite,we soaked our baits a-little long .We tried a-few more spots with little biting. So with 1 grouper,1flounder and some throw-backs,we called it a day.
Sounds like a good day to me... nice grouper *Cheers* Have any live bait grouper tackle and tactics to share with us? *008* ;D

We've been using Penn 260 and 360 spooled with 10# ande, and a 30# leader. The Penn 220 and 320 spooled with 25# ande ,with an 30 to 35# leader.Yes,all mono; Now some of the crew is using braid, but I'd contend our losses 'we're about the same.Hook size has varied 1/0 to 3/0 depending on bait size, and weight well this is shallow, did I say shallow ,an 1/8 pinch on weight.Put rod in holder and wait. So glad to have been part of a whole day fishing with one of the best people I have ever met. The big grouper part wasan't to shabby either.
Please come over and let's all take Brian's boat out for the day. Like he said we have to keep her wet.
You are the best!!!!

Hey
Yeh Chum lives in a great area...the water gets a lot deeper faster than it does over here around St George...plus he has that great undersea canyon fairly close...How far out is that Canyon Chum.....I hear there some fine Yellow Finn caught there in the winter...AhiAhi...lolBoogieBlues

To be honest, I have not ventured out of state waters yet (9 miles), the way things are going Federal Waters are going to be off-limits to just about everything, lol. Capt. Jim has been working/running Charter boats for a few years and can probably answer that question better than myself...I know we are closer to the deep water than you are, but not as close to blue water as Destin. I'm thinking it is in the 30 mile range to the really deep stuff, but we have 70ft depth in a matter of 2-4 miles or so, depending on the area.
