Well i made it offshore with a captain and who i consider a good friend, we picked up a bunch of bulk fish, triggerfish, black sea bass, beeliners, and then some grouper and red snapper. Last time i went out with him we got set up on a spot for big snapper and i got hooked up, made a mistake and boom gone......well he got me set up again and after feeling the bite and setting the hook this little guy gave me a ride.....would come up a couple feet and then he would kick his tale to get back to the reef, unlike alot of snapper this guy kicked and fought all the way to the boat......and then redemption :)

I told him that eating the fish was not nearly as important as putting the line down, hooking, fighting, and getting the fish in the boat. That was what it was all about for me :)

You HAD to post that picture with another 9 months left before the season opens again, lol.....thats just not right! I have not even been fishing offshore since Snapper season closed here the middle of August, its too difficult to turn them loose. Going to head out Friday and see if we can pull some AJ's out of the thick cloud of nearly extinct Red Snapper holding on my favorite wreck.

Nice one!

Wow, I am so jealous. I'm stuck in a classroom with a bunch of High Schoolers as I drool over that picture!

Great catch Fayetteguy! Offshore bottom digging... dropping a bait over live bottom is such a hoot, never (for sure) knowing what will thump your line next... keeps me coming back time after time, searching for such a grand fish as you have pictured *Cheers*

That was part of the unreal stuff about fishing with this captain, as we were about to drop down, he said "theres a big one there, youll feel him right away"....and he was right. He moved to different areas to get beeliners, triggers, and reds.....when you have done it for 31 years i guess you figure it out :)
