Had a great time out with you and Gary yesterday, on your well rigged and equipped Elite Bob... thanks for the invite and the all the effort you put out to help make our trip enjoyable and successful. It was a beautiful day and a stunningly beautiful evening!

The water was warm, (82.5 degrees) the bait was wall to wall, the gulls were hungry and anxious, and the bite was slow, but we did manage to take 3 nice "rocks", a seagull, and several lively yellowtail before the sun went down, topping off a very enjoyable afternoon on the river, and a thoroughly appreciated tour of some future potential hot spots that I will be sure and visit in the weeks and months to come *Cheers*

We weren't the only ones waiting for the action to start...

The best fish of the day, a linesider approaching 23", was caught by our able guide and fellow skiffer, Bob (justaddwater).

Your welcome Dave, I only wish the stripers had shown better participation. But it was a nice day on the water and we didn't come home with skunk on the boat.

Let me add my appreciation to Bob (JustAddWater) for an outstanding time on the water and to you Dave for being the great company that you always are. That boat is one beautiful machine. I love the sound of that motor reaching WOT!! Hopefully we can do it again soon. The run upriver was very nice and informative. You can never have too much information *thumbsup*

Now that I have my boat back (for this week *004*)....it's time to hit the briney. I see that that I have worn out the linesides rotflmao. The reds and specs have had too much time off from me. Y'all are invited any time you want to go. Gotta do something soon to get the skunk off!!!

Nice report Dave *Cheers* looks like the three of you had a good time.

Now about that third picture... are you sure you were fishing at New Bern ? That looks like a pryamid in the back ground and with the different water levels you must of been in a lock rotflmao

Good job guys *thumbsup*

Don't worry Ed, we only killed 5 or 6 of the little buggers... all snagged by accident. ;D

Dave we went back Saturday afternoon and picked up about a dozen right there where we got the three we had. They were hitting bait all around us but were slow to hit top. I threw everything I have in my box while Pat, my fishing partner kept getting them on the frog spook. Finally gave up and went to the frog and started catching some myself. They were fat as pigs and we lost two to structure under the water that they hung us on. They hit about 1ish and then again at sundown but were active all afternoon. We did move further towards the crab pots, where it goes from 9-10 feet deep to three feet. They were pushing the bait up on the shoal and hitting them in the shallow.

Gotta get back there. THEY OWE ME!!!!rotflmao
I have spent the last couple of days practicing tying a knot that will not break that 8-pound line when the bail snaps closed. It integrates a rubber band on the end of the line and that is attached to the lure to absorb the shock. *laughing*

I ran down to Swansboro yesterday. Nice high flood tide but I couldn't find any reds. Several short flounder and lizardfish though.

Bob, PM me your email addy and I will send you the pics I took of you.

Sorry for the late comeback Bob... family visiting and lots of work on the roof ;D Glad to here the fish are still there! I'm going to try and pick a good morning or evening to break from roofing and get back up to New Bern again *Cheers*

Gary, there should be plenty of reds on the oyster beds near the Town Creek Marina now that the weekend tournament fleet released all there catch after the weigh in ;D

No... was using a white (glow) she dog... man those stripers can bust a topwater and they pull good too ;D I done told everyone I fish with, about your "secret" striper bait tc..... rotflmao but I didn't have one to show them... I haven't bought any since you gave me one on our last striper trip. I was wishing I had one on the trip with Gary a couple weeks ago and dug around in my tackle box but I must have lost that one *001*

Gary, you better take an anchor with you brother... no telling where you'll end up if you hang into a big one *laughing*

Dave

I love catching a nice fish in that little canoe. They pull me around faster than a trolling motor and the destination is always a surprise *laughing*. I usually let them get me close to where I want to be and then let them throw out the barbless hook.
I used to fish Sheepshead out of it and played richochet rabbit off the pilings with them and the black drum. Never a dull moment rotflmao. Y'all have mercy on me out there*008*

Hey guys we went back to the hole Sunday, man they're stubborn. Again they were busting all around us but wouldn't take anything we offered, and we offered everything in the box. We did get 5 in the boat for the afternoon trip, all on top water, but that wasn't near enough for how many fish were busting all around us. The were mixed in with the gars but you could tell when the stripers were hitting the bait vs the gars rolling. I stil believe there's just too much bait in the water for anything to want to hit an artificial. The water was thick as molasses with pogies. Clouds blew out, wind layed down and it was a beutiful day on the river, even with just 5 fish over the side, all released for another day.*Cheers*

Good report JAW. Maybe the cool nights will turn on the stripers and move some of the menhaden out... it's gettin' about time for the "big feed" to get started ;D
