Hello everyone,

Just wanted to say hello from Spring Hill Florida. I just purchased an '08 JVX20 and will be fishing her this coming weekend.
I am looking forward to using this site.

Any thoughts on the JVX20CC? I purchased it with a Suzuki 90, Garmin 440 & Minn Kota 55. I can't wait to use it. We have been fishing off the family bowrider and that was nothing but a pain! Ours is white, not this lovely Doe Skin color...

Happy Holidays to all and thanks for allowing me to join.

I like that model, but do a lot of flats fishing so i was looking for very shallow draft as the DLX has. Where did you buy from??

I think the draft difference between the JVX & DLX is only an inch or two. If memory serves the DLX drafts 3" to 6" and the JVX drafts 4" to 8". Certainly a difference, but I'd guess that it's a small amount.

I purchased from Sunray Marine in Holiday.

Cool, I saw a 18JVX White also...sweet looking.

Where do you fish up there, primarily inshore or out a few miles?

Post some photos of your new ride, like to see what she looks like.

Well, as usual we ran into a snag today on the boat deal. My current boat, a gorgeous 2005 Chaparral 204SSI Bowrider was going in on trade towards the new '08 Skiff. Well when I saw the paperwork on the '08 JVX20, I about spooled my internal reel when I saw the interest rate on the note!!! 12% interest on a new boat purchase!!! LOL! I laughed at those guys. I pay 9% interest on a used boat purchase!
So it looks like no fishing the new boat this weekend. In fact it looks like NO new boat this weekend until those guys can get their heads out of their collective... eh... ah... transom!

As far as where we fish, generally Gomez rock area for starters, McConnell rock, then we try and head inshore some, but I was limited with the BowRider drawing almost 3.5 feet of water. Hence the reason for the Skiff purchase. My fishing partner really tears up the Reds near Green key. He does so in a small 14' Jon w/5hp kicker. The ole boy sure can tear them up!

Hopefully, and I mean hopefully I can clear up the interest rate issue. I am in the process of securing better financing and hope I can get it in place early enough tomorrow to get this deal sealed up and be on the water Sunday.

Good luck on getting everything straightened out. I know EXACTLY how it feels... the boat is sitting right there and these guys are jerking you around. You just got to exercise a little patience and things will work out. There's one thing for certain, if you don't look out for old #1, nobody else will.

Hey 1967jrd, I live in Spring Hill also. I just bought a new 2480 dlx and I also got prices from sunray. Way to high. I ended up driving to NC to purchase my boat. I saved at least 4000.00 by buying from chatlees. If they can't get your deal together, you may want to check out prices up there. My brother and I went out to the North rack/ palmer rock and caught 7 speck trout today. 5 were 19 to 20" and 1 was 21" and 1 was 23". All big trout. Caught a bunch of Bluefish also. Big fighters but I'm not sure if they are good to eat. If you would like to get together sometime to fish, let me know.

I am from NC and I bought my boat from Chatlee's as well - I live 2 hours from Sanford but it is on my way to the coast if I need to have some service done.by the way blue fish are very good if you eat them the same day you catch them......other than that they start to get mushy ...my opinion anyways

Thanks for the tip Darell. I purchased my last boat at Sunray and feel they did me fair. I know I am paying a little too much for the JVX20, but they are giving me nice numbers on my trade. Plus they are also treating me well on all the extras I added. I guess it all works out in the end. I did get the financing issue resolved as well. Funny how when you say "Shove this deal up your bilge bay" the manage to sharpen their pencils! And when I say "they", I don't mean Sunray, it was the lender.

Sounds like you had a good day fishing. I agree with koolj, you won't catch me taking any Bluefish. I hear people eat them, but I do not particularly care to. Now, those Trout, some Redfish, a Black Grouper and a Flounder or two on the grill with a few nice steaks and we are talking my language!

When we get all situated with the new boat (probably take delivery on or about Wednesday 12/12) I'll shoot you an email and we'll get together and slay 'em! Look forward to meeting you.

Yeah, there's not much middle ground on the bluefish opinions; ya either love 'em or ya hate 'em. I'm on the side of loving them. I've kept them on ice as long as 24 hours, cleaned 'em up real good, fix them with some of my special egg wash and House Autry batter... chunk 'em in some hot peanut oil. Man 'o man... that there's some good eats. LOL  011

I looked all around and with all the options i added (T-top, leaning post, etc.) I found that all the dealers were about the same or within $1000 of the rest. I upgraded the trailer as well at the last minute to a tube frame instead of a channel frame for peace of mind. I also got a great finance rate of 8.25% which other dealers cannot touch that i spoke to. I bought mine at advantage marine in Dade City, FL by the way. They have been great to deal with, just taking a long time to get it. I guess at the factory when you add as much as i did they take there sweet time.

Buying from a local dealer has its pros at times also. When you want to get some service, the first thing they ask is did you buy the boat from us. I'm pretty sure that they put their buyers ahead off the ones that are purchased elsewhere. And whats with the drop it off and we'll get to it as soon as we can, should be about 2 weeks. What happened to appointments? I hate the idea of my boat sitting at the repair shop for 2 weeks when I could be useing it and bringing it in when its my turn. But they all seem to do that. It sucks.

If they say drop it off and it will be ready in two weeks, why not suggest you bring it in in 12 days ?
Surely they can't spend two weeks working on it?

I actually spoke with Calvin at Advantage. They had some used stuff out front I was nosing around.

If you don't mind me asking, who was the lender at 8.25%? I only ask because I have a potential contract with a lender at 7.87% but they can't seem to finalize the deal. 8.25% would be closer than any other quotes I have gotten.

I'm curious what the term is on these loans you guys mentioned. I can't imagine paying that kind of interest. The boat I have is on a 4.7% note, and the credit union would do 5.5% now. Of course, the longest I could do a loan is 60 months, but my payment was still only 220/mo, and if you have more than 20k to finance, they'll go 66 months, which I did on my truck. Heck, I'm so stingy, I paid the first payment the day I took out the loan. It takes 3 or 4 months off the length of the loan. I'll make double payments the first 6 months if I can. I don't want the bank to get a nickel of mine.

010 Hey there 1967JRD from Spring Hill.

I've been getting good advise on another thread on purchase of 218 DLV. Pricing options from NC and GA and shopping it with Sunrays in Largo. They seem to be really trying to work into their margin - but still $1500+ away from NC prices (Chatlees) - however, Chatlees indicating that if picking up there -I'd owe NC Sales tax ($600+) there - so that puts the prices a bit closer. Who did you deal with at Sunray - so far they seem to have been pretty straight up with things. Sales guy is Mark. Taking a sea trial on Saturday.

Bill ,
Check your e-mail. My buddy who reads this forum & saw your post, told me to let you know he has a 2006 218 DLV 140 suzuki and trailer, that we wants to sell to upgrade himself to the 258DLV.

He said he wants to get $19,500 for it. If your interested let me know and I'll put you in contact with him. plus I think it still has 4 years remaining on the warranty.

Here a picture of it. It's a beauty and loaded w/ hyd steering, Garmin GPS, and lots of other stuff too. He even said he would deliver it to FLA !!!! 012
