April - I paid to have my skiff prepped, primed and two coats of Interlux ACT ablative applied

Today - I pulled her out of the water. No growth...just some mild slime. I am very impressed.

....now the bad news.

I used a medium pressure pressure washer to knock the slime off and it cut right through the existing ablative paint down to the primer.

Now my question:

Is 7 months in the water the lifespan of 2 coats of a good quality bottom paint or was I a fool to use the pressure washer?

D.

P.S. No signs of blisters or anything like that.

I paid to have my new boat preped and painted with two coats of the same type paint you mentioned and like you said, no growth, just slime.

I too used the power washer to clean it up but it didn't take the paint off. Maybe you had the setting too high 006. I kept mine cut back to a wide fan patteren.

As far as the life span. My buddy has kept his boat in the water all year, when he did pul it out he said he just touched up the area's that had washed off.

As Harry said you can just touch up the painted area with new paint. The pressure washer is ok if there is alot of crud/growth everywhere. Otherwise a scrub brush does fine.
