Finally got my first King!!!!

This is a little late, but I just got back from Vacation. I finally got my first king on my boat. He was small but a keeper. Fished out of Little River Inlet on Sunday 8/9 and went to the jungle trolled cigars for about an hour with nothing to show but a couple of lost rigs. Decided to move on to Christina's ledge and got 2 kings with in 15 mins of putting out the lines, they are small but they are legal. also picked up some nice 20+ inch spanish.

The rest of the week consisted of near shore trolling, lots of nice spanish, not the usual 12" ones that you catch while trolling spoons.

Nice catch. Make sure that those Spanish aren't actually schoolie kings. The DMF has been frying a lot of people down here in Wilmington that can't tell the difference. Kings have to be 24" fork length.

yeah, I have heard about that. I check the dorsal fin, If the front of it is black its a spanish!
