Well guys, this may not be in full detail or a great write up but here goes.
We arrived at Calico Jacks on Thursday about 2:00. The skies were gray and ominous looking. We were able to go out after procurring some shrimp and some handy advise from the CJ staff. We weaved our way out through the buoys and made it to the Cape with no troubles. The wife and children walked over the dunes to look at the ocean and I stayed at the boat to rig the rods.(Also still a little hesitant about anchoring my boat and leaving it) We fished for a while out at the hook. My wife lost a good flounder (keeper) at the boat. We picked up a bunch of pinfish and sand sharks. We made it back a little before dusk with no issues. (Still a little timid though) We decided to get up early the next morning and go back out to catch some bigger fish. We got out to the hook and fished a while, the whole time the skies were getting darker. I convinced them to make one more drift and then we would go in. Well after the third drift we headed in*006*. The rain was on top of us and everyone was soaked and happy*004*. We made it in and then went to visit an old coworker who had retired down to the island. The rain eventually stopped and my son and I decided to head out even though the radar at CJ said a storm was coming. We got out to the light house and dropped some lines about the time the bottom dropped out*001*. We decided to tough it out. I was under the bimini and my son was on the the front deck fishing away. By now it was raining so hard that we could not see the lighthouse( we were less than a quater mile from it). The rain stopped and we both went back to fishing. We were still picking up pin fish and sand sharks. We finally had a really good day today. The sun was out all day and everything was so beautiful. We fished off and on throughout the day picking up some undersized flounder and a pompano along with the pinfish. We then made the run outside SB to the Morehead entrance and then went in to Beaufort and came back to Harkers by way of Taylors Creek. I must say that this area is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been and is another testament to God's handiwork *Woot*. I would like to thank all who had input on my planning and tips. I also had 1stSgt's map in my hand when we were coming from Beaufort back to Harkers. What could have been a mind boggling experience was made easier with ya'lls help. Pictures to follow when I get home tomorrow afternoon.

Sounds like a very nice time was had by all. Glad to hear a little bit of weather didn't stop y'all from getting out and enjoying your skiff. Hey, and if you made that 1st time trip between CJ's to Taylor's Creek without getting lost or stranded on a sandbar, you can consider yourself a master inshore skipper............or just lucky ;D Thanks for the report... looking forward to the pics! *Cheers*

You don't know how reassuring it is for me to hear that ;D As many times I've made that trip, I still manage to find some sand once in awhile on the Harker's Island run rotflmao Those are some great pics and I second what Harry said. It's really nice to see the whole family finding and enjoying the pleasures to be found outside the confines and often spoiling comforts of home *thumbsup*
