We fished for three hours off Rudee inlet VA looking for Kingfish. A couple of reports of skyrocketing kings have been reported off Sandbridge and Virginia Beach so I decided to venture out looking for some. We ran two miles south of the inlet in 25-30 of water and found alot of small Bunker everywhere. Alot of bird activity and dark clouds of bait schools popping up all around. We trolled Clark spoons and quickly caught three Bluefish that went into the well. I set up near a bouy after seeing a 45-50lb. Cobia getting weighed in at the local marina on our way out and put the three blues out.
Unfortunately we gave up before the baits did and they won their freedom. We headed back in ready to do it again soon. Surface temp was 81 degrees and with all that bait and not many predators, its only a matter of time before the kings show up, and we'll be ready.

Thanks,

Alex

Hey Alex,

How long did it take you to get to Rudee from Willoughby? Must have been a nice boat ride!;D

I'm guessing you put in at Owls Creek. Anyway, welcome down to the beach!

Marty, glad to see you back on your feet. Yeah, I trailered it to Owl's Creek and ran down off of Dam Neck and out to one of the yellow bouys off the inlet. I'll be spending some time off of there I believe in the next few months.
I think i'll continue trailering there as well, that would be a bit of a haul, lol.

Thanks Alex,

But more like back on my butt right now - gonna be a while before I can get out. I know exactly where you are talking about. Got in the middle of a huge striper frenzy there 3 yrs ago with about another couple of hundred boats! Keep us posted on the kings!

Weather permitting, we may put in at Owls Creek this coming Saturday. I was going to hit the little cove just out past the jetty on the right but always looking for ideas. Then again, we might just do Back Bay.

Hi Alex;

I always enjoy reading your reports and seeing the excited look on your sons face!!!!! Seems like you are always able to catch something. I also look forward to hearing about your kings.

Thanks Ric, I'm just trying to keep up with the great reports and stories you guys contribute on this great site.
I really enjoy taking my son for these short trips, last thing I want to do is wear him out with a long day. My mom and dad took me fishing when I was my sons age but they kept me out there allll-daaay-long. I figure with these short trips I keep my son hungry for more!
Thanks again,

Alex
