Lowrance HDS Side looking imaging

Lowrance is releasing an add on module for the HDS units that will allow side looking imaging. I cannot wait to add this to my HDS 5! *Woot*

I think the HDS units next year will have this feature built in or at least a built in option with the HDS. I bought one of the 8" units (LCX 37C) 2 years ago. Wish I had waited.*004*

They say the release date is going to be July of this year. It is going to be an add on module for the current HDS units.

Yeah, I know there's an add on for the units already out, but the units manuf. later this year and next will have it built in if I understand it correctly.

No, but they claim in the press release that it will be an affordable addition the HDS units.
From the press release:

"A simple, cost-efficient add-on module, the new side-viewing technology is easily networked using Lowrance Ethernet connections, allowing anglers to enjoy the Lowrance sonar advantage on all HDS displays mounted on their boat."


"Full details, pricing and a projected 2009 availability date for the new Lowrance side-viewing supplemental HDS sonar technology option is expected to be released at the American Sportfishing Association’s ICAST trade show in Orlando, Florida in July."
