Well, I was in the market for a new JVX 18, but I came across a great deal on a used 17' CS with a new etec. I am taking her out Saturday for the first time. It's been killing me seeing it in the yard and not in the water. I just wanted the boat to be registered, the trailer to be tagged and the required safety items. I am officially legal. I am excited. I will be targeting some stripers after a cruise to get accustomed with her.
Do you rememeber when you owned your first skiff? Did it make you are warm a fuzzy inside? Or am I just weird?!
I have never loaded a flat bottom boat on a trailer before. Should I load it the same way as a V bottom?

I counted down the days, hours, and minutes until I picked her up. Now I count down the days, hours, and minutes until I get to go fishing next. ;D

What area do you fish again?
As for unloading and unloading, there is a difference. Do yourself a favor and do a search here on "front roller hang up"
It details pretty good about what to look for and the steepness of the ramp, how far you should go in ...etc.
Good luck and congrats on the new boat.

I fish the Savannah Georgia area.
As far as the front roller hang up, the trailer has 2 carpetted 2X4 up front. So no hang up there. Thanks for mentioning it though.

So much for Saturday, I went today after I left work. I wanted to make sure it was going to be safe and reliable for Saturday's trip with my girlfriend. It was very windy and the water had a light chop in some places but I still wanted to go for it. It handled great except for the wind pushing me to the side a bit. I stayed dry, but cold. At WOT with a combined weight of 410 lbs for two people, it managed 32-33 mph GPS (60 ETEC and 17' CS). Way faster than I wanted to go. It cruised great at 25mph. I was out for about an hour. I did have difficulty loading it back onto the trailer due to a flowing tide and winds pushing in the same direction. I am now home, motor got flushed, and I am beginning to warm up. I had a great time and I hope to have many more memorable and safe trips.
I am striper fishing Saturday afternoon with my girlfriend so I am looking forward to a great first fishing trip.
I think my boats name will be REEL NAUTI.

Sounds like you had a good maiden voyage. Good name for the cs also, but the more you take her out the tamer she will become......... 010
