got out last night about 930 had a incomming tide went to the southern in side part of the pass, the cao costa side, tryed to go to the north outside but there were 6ft rollers there so it wasnt good for fishing, set up in about 14ft of water on the slope going down to 45ft, not much wave action, but lots of mosquito action, got the chum dropped about 10pm and myself and a crew of 3 all hooked up 1.5lb mullettes for baits, 20min in got our first hookup, about an 8ft bull he was fought for about 30min on a penn 9/0 brought to the side of the boat and let go, about 30min after theat another crew hooked up, this time it was a 6ft blacktip on a penn 6/0 about a 20min fight then brought to the boat and let go, about 10min after that I hooked up with a 5ft lemon shark on a penn 9/0 only about a 5min fight and that shark was boated, for eating this weekend, about 30min after that another crew had a hookup on a massave shark in the 12 to 14ft range on a penn 9/0 with 200lb powerpro line, shark was faoght for about 30min then decided it was time to go and broke or chewed threw 300lb cable leader, great fight tho, about 20min after that crew hooked up with a 6ft spinner he gave us a great show in the moonlight jumping about 6 times the was broke off, it was getting late so we loaded up and went back to the placida boat launch and headed for home got home and boat cleaned around 6am all and all a good night, I will be fishing fort myers bch on sat or sun, that is the real hot shark spot, will give a report after its been done

Hey Captain Bruce. Thanks for posting up some Florida action. It's been very hot up here around the Big Bend and we don't have any deep water unless we go off shore. Inshore fishin's a little slow, so it's good to know someone in the state is catchin fish--even if it is sharks. Maybe nightime IS the tickit.:secret:

Post up some pics of your fish and rig. There's a few of us Florida Crackers on here. I've been reading your post and enjoying your comments. Seems like you've been at this a while and know a bit about the Gulf.*thumbsup*

thanks for the comp red, I will have to take my camera out this weekend and get some fishin pics for you and the rest of the crew, its been wicked hot down here also, you cant go fishin in the day unless you have a bimm top up, or your fishin under a bridge, but inshore fishin has been great down here in charlotte harbor and out on the frnt bch, heck on the forth my 5yr old son caught a 5lb gator trout, and lost one prob about 7lbs, lots of snook and reds also, lots of large jacks boiling up the water also, the snook are all piled up like cord wood around the dock lights at night also, and a good ammount of them are in the 20 to 30lb range, im going to be in a shark fishin tournament next weekend so ill be sure to get some pics of that also

Hey bruce nice to know that someone else on this site is here in Charlotte. I see you Commercial fish. Are you familiar with Codys crab shack. I have a buddy named kieth that fishes out of there, Good guy. You may know him as his first name. I cant recall what that is but we know him as Keith here in Arcadia.

I took my dad out a couple weeks back and he cought his first snook 30inches and his first flounder 15 in. The snook are stacked in the Ponce de Leon canal along with the snapper. The docks are stacked at night, if you can find the lights on good luck I can almost reach out and touch em but cant get them to bite. Havent tried greenys yet. But the people that live there bitch if they find you catching "their" fish.

Harry, it's Fisherman's Village. Harpoon Harry's is the bar on the end. Good Times.

Yup that's the place, thanks man.
Downed a few cold one's at Harpon Harry's.

Dave Stephens used to guide for the fishing service there at fisherman village, but now is on his own and picks us up farther down the road at a public ramp/ park area.

Thanks for the shark report Capt. I used to know a warrant officer that would anchor up and fish all night here in the Morehead City turn basin for sharks... he would come in on Monday and tell us all about his adventures  We've caught a few biguns while offshore bottom fishing and they can flat wear ya out, especially if you're not fishing with heavy enough gear. Lookin' forward to some pictures when you put 'em up *Woot*

Pretty area too. My parents live in Punta Gorda. I have taken my skiff down to Port Charlotte and launched from Ponce de Leon park. The Best Western let me keep my boat overnight at the dock at no charge.

Been to Harpoon Hary's as well.

Great area
