Hey guys I'm going to Bald Head for the first time with my skiff on the July 18 for a week of fishing and family fun. I've been looking forward to this trip since last year when I was on the bank and dock watching all the boats come in with fish. I know of one good spot as I'm coming out of the marina on Bald Head. Is there any of you that would be willing to share any other good places? If any of local or visiting CSO members would like to get together and do some fishing that week drop me a line.
Thanks, Spangle

Spangle,

What kind of skiff are you fishing out of and what are you looking to catch ?

Spangle, I've fished some down there and would be glad to share my info. I fish inshore behind Oak Island and Bald Head in shallow water. If you have a boat that works in the shallow stuff, shoot me an pm.

I've got a 1965DLX. I'm looking for mainly Trout, Reds, and Flounnder. I may try to troll for some Spanish also, if the water is not rough on the outside.

Buzzards bay and the surrounding creeks and marshes are excellent for flounder, trout and redfish. You need to watch the tides closely, even in a DLX you can find yourself stuck and waiting for the tide to change. It's July and it's going to be hot, the best fishing is going to be early and late in the day. I usually stay on the other side of the River from Bald head and there is good fishing too from the Southport waterfront and the marshes along the Elizabeth river and behind Oak island. Crossing the Cape Fear can be a wet and bouncy ride if the wind is bucking the current. Have a safe and fun trip!!!
