Hi guys, you responded to my thread about the wesco trailer. One question, do you have surge brakes on your trailer? If so, did they put brakes on both axels of the tandam. The reason I'm asking is I was reading the trailer manual that they gave me and one of the warnings was if surge brakes used on tandam axel trailers that all 4 tires should have brakes. Mine only has the brakes on the front ones. Just curious as to if I need to contact chatlees to inquire or if thats standard on all their tandam trailers. Seems to brake fine. Thanks

I've got surge brakes and I believe they're only on one axle, but I'll doublecheck when I get home this evening. I also have a 16' dovetail trailer with elecric brakes and they're only on one axle also. I've never heard about this concern that you mentioned. I didn't get didly as far as an owner's manual with my trailer. I've been to the Wesco web site and downloaded one but it was just one page with no mention of this thing about dual brakes. I think Chatlees buys the trailers from Wesco pre-rigged with the brakes and the only mods that Chatlees does is install a trailer jack and mount a spare tire if you ordered one. My surge brakes perform very well and the couple of times I've had to quickly stop didn't make me feel like anything was out of the ordinary. If you uncover anything more then please keep us posted.

I only have brakes on one of my axles on a Wesco trailer. I kinda wish it had a wash down port. Kinda a baer to get underneath the trailer to thoroughly was the disks and pads.

Yep... only have brakes on the front axle.
