FYI:
I just got warranty service on my suzuki tachometer, it was working about 20%
of the time, and I am trying to break in the engine properly. So this was a bummer,
I had a one week wait to get the boat in the local dealer and one week wait for parts
and installation, so I was out of the water for two weeks.
The good news is suzuki covered it promptly under warranty and also an adjustment on the front engine cover latch as it was loose. All no charge. I like
the DF140 Suzuki, I have it on a 218DLV elite. Now I must get the proper propeller.
When the tach was working intermittently, I could only get 5500rpm WOT, so I will
check with the new tach and see where it is now. I think I will be reducing pitch to
a 19. Any other DF140 owners out there??? What are your top speeds on 218DLV??

Kirk

Kirk,

Check the thread titled “Factory and dealer interaction with prop selection” on the DLV series forum. There is some useful information there. Your boat is somewhat heavier than mine but I’d think your 140 should turn closer to 6000 RPM’s than you are currently registering. Personally, I’m much more interested in the RPM at WOT than any other indicator to prop performance – i.e. speed is what it will be and there are so many variables that determine top speed, or even the accuracy of that “indicated” speed. If the RPM’s max at the highest safe level, then I’m satisfied, albeit some will desire quicker “hole shot” speed, or a different cruse speed than their current prop wants to give them. I rarely run WOT for any significant period of time, even in the best of weather and/or water conditions.

Good luck,
Dave

when my boat was new that was one of the things I had to get fixed - I was told it was a pinched cable - but after I took it back had no more problems and that was 4 years ago
