Harry,

I think its a mistake to lock down skiff-rick thread. CS needs to know/hear from all their customers/skiff owners that we are not happy with their ansure to skiff-rick.

This was most likely caused by a thin gel-coat appliction. To have a small area of the hull have problems is one thing (sometimes its hard to get even coats when spraying) but the hole wetted area is effected. Someone was not watching (qualty control) when that hull was layed up. CS has allways built strong tough boats not fancy pretty ones, has this changed? THIS SHOULD NOT LEFT AS SKIFF_RICK's PROBLEM. The repair will in all likelyhood cost more that a new hull.

Hey CS step up to the plate, you guys allways haved in the passed. I own a CS partly becuse of your good customer relations. I posted a long time ago about that on the MSN board. All manufactors have some QT problems at sometime, the good ones make it right, haved you changed your policy? You must know the power of the web, read what their saying about CS on the THT. Its a shame to see a fine boat and company get beat up over some stupid decision. In the end its the reputation of CS thats on the line....don't make a mistake.

I think its the right move. There are 4 pages of this on the hull truth site if you need more. They hate Carolina skiffs over there. We like em here. Its a shame for Skiff Rick but I am sure he will do what he needs to do and can stick up for himself. Theres no need to have a neverending CS bashfest here.

O2bfishn,
I hear what your saying, however There's more to this than meets the eye. I agree with you 110% about Rick and anyone else needing to be heard and letting CS hear that some have problems with there boats....etc.

That's why I chose to just lock the thread, instead of simply deleting it from cyberspace. Anyone can still read it and see who said what. Do a search here on gel caot and that thread will come up.

I have been in contact with Rick & CS and even contacted CS on Ricks behalf about his Gel coat issue (not that I'm anyone special, just thought it couldn't hurt)
Either way I know for a fact both have been in contact with one another and I told them both it would be in the best interest of both of them ( and not to drag this site into it) that they handle this through personal e-mails or phone calls.

As for me making a mistake, maybe your right, but it was my call to make, and your entitled to your opinion.

If someone comes along and has a Gel coat issue and starts a thread fine. It will be treated and watched just like any other thread.

I think if CS deserves praise they should hear it. If someone has a legit compliant CS should get to hear that too.

Thanks again to you guys for your continued support..

Harry,

I never bashed CS, I don't want to. I believe they build a great boat, not fancy, not pretty but a great fishing boat. I got (choose) my skiff based on what menbers of the MSN site said about theirs, many are menbers here now (this site did not exist yet). The menbers of these sites are super, helpful, knowledgeable, and very resourceful.

Problems in production of anything can always happen and CS has always done the right thing, thats what posters have said over and over again about the company. Thats partly (mostly) why I choose CS over other skiffs. Could this be a major change in policy? I don't think so, probably (hopefuly) just a bone head in the warranty dept.

I am glad to hear that Rick and CS are talking, maybe they can reach a solution (members helping each other 012).

You are right this site should not get dragged into this, but posters should be heard. This is a fine site, better than most any one I belong to or lurk at. I don't think rRcks thread or any others about gel-coats are going to harm it.

Thanks for giving me the space to rant. 012
