I bought my CS, riding on a single axle magic tilt aluminum trailer. The dealer told me that Magic Tilt built this trailer specifically for CS. It even has the new improved bow stop roller. Today I towed my CS 25 miles to my shop. I got out to routinely check the warmth of my hubs, and my right side fender was hot, and had been rubbing the tire:eek: The culprit is, the spring hanger? has collapsed, due to fact that the bracket that spans from the front spring hanger to the rear spring hanger, and bolts to the bottom of the frame, has bent. upon further inspection, it appears the 2 end bolts were not installed. Anybody else run into this? Thanks.

I have your exact trailer and you quoted verbatim what my dealer told me as far as it being custom built for a CS. I even noted to the dealer that there was very minimal clearance and that the wheel well will get a lot of foot traffic since that is how you get in the boat when it's trailered. He assured me it would be trouble free*001*

I haven't had a problem yet, but thanks for the post, I'll check mine as well.

I think "the traler was built special for this boat" is the new sales pitch. Most people have already done the research and know the pros and cons of the boat that they are buying. And CS dealers know that there are trailer issues. So why not say the trailer is special to the boat. I had talked to 4 or 5 dealers before I bought my boat, every one of them told me their brand of trailer was built just for the boat. :secret:

We love our boats & hate our trailers :secret: *015*

It would seem that almost all skiff owners have had some sort of issue with their trailer at some point in time! *004*

A trailer designed especially for skiffs is not uncommon .*kickrock*

Designed for a Carolina skiff is another story ?*006*

Their are many hull types just in Carolina skiff line up !

Here is my recent Trailer problem

*006*Really, on the trailer certificate of origin, Magic Tilt lists the "series or model" of the trailer as "CS 218DLV"

My Great Road King trailer has a sticker on stating: "198 DLV model"

"....We love our boats & hate our trailers...."

DING DING DING!!! We have a winner!!

Actually, I like my trailer, but I hate the warranty service from Road King. It is a great trailer when things are working, but when they break and require a repair under warranty the service is terrible.

I think the problem is that we get what we pay for. Go look at a $45,000 Ranger bass boat and look at the trailer you get. They make some nice boat trailers for the Ranger boats. Too bad there is not a premium trailer out there where you could pay $1,000 more and get something you can depend on.

Called my dealer. He said he no longer fools with Magic Tilt trailers. He now sells Continental Trailers. He referred me to a marina that does warranty work for Magic Tilt. *001* So, I contacted my attorney. He says the seller is liable, since the trailer is overloaded, as sold. But he recommends that I offer to pay the difference to upgrade to a heavier trailer. If the selling dealer doesn't want to do that, then I can sue, and make him buy back my trailer since it is not suitable for it's intended purpose. I still will be out attorney fees*006*, and then have to buy another trailer*kickrock*

Anybody ever hung a second axle under a single axle trailer, making it a tandem axle trailer? How big a project is that? What about brakes? All thoughts are appreciated.

Hi G I Joe . I also have a 218DLV with a Magic Tilt single axle trailer. The dealer said the same stuff.... I had trouble with the bias ply tires wearing out in 9 mo. and replaced with radials no problems since... You can add a second axle and a brake kit but I would recommend getting parts from Magic tilt. I think you will find like I did that you might as well just buy the exact trailer you want and sell yours. Also the axles and spring parts for almost all trailer come from a handfull of suppliers, and the problem comes from trying to cut the size axle vs weight rating to close. Good luck and don't let em spoil you time fishing. Andycarp
