Are you ventilating the prop alot by trimming it up too much? That can spin the hub.

Being over-propped or hauling an extremely heavy load can cause you to spin a hub (speaking from experience on my old boat). Over-revving or cavitation should actually lessen the pressure on the hub, and shouldn't add to the failure rate.
You may want to press in a new hub, keep that prop as a spare and purchase a new prop for day to day use. A spun hub could make for a long, slow ride home......a spare prop on board would have been welcome when mine spun.
Also, don't forget to periodically remove and lube the prop shaft so you will be able to easily remove it in an emergency (I needed a gear puller to remove mine on the old boat, due to lack of proper maintenance).

That just don't make any since. I've had boats for 30 years and never had a prop do that? Some, including the Skiff I have now, hits bottom ALL the time but it's got a StSt prop on her. chumhead might be on to something as I've always tried to stay as "light" as I could. What kind of props are you running? RPM's seem in line. 006
