We went fishing out of Goodland/Marco Island last Sunday. Not a ton of action, but a fun day on the water. My 5yr old Austin had one goal in mind when we set out, and that was to catch a keeper. He didn't care what, he just wanted to catch something without anyone's help that he could take home and put on the dinner table. Here's the winner - an 11 1/2" mangrove snapper.

And here's a 29" red a friend caught:

A fine fisherman right there. Congrats to him on his catch!!!
Im guessing you decided the 55 was not enough and went with a 250? Should move the j16 quite nicely.

Too funny, I was thinking the same thing.
Great looking fish Austin *thumbsup**thumbsup* You must be a natural it took me years to catch a fish like that . My fishing partner these days is my 12 year old grandson . I was with him last year when he caught his first striper . Fishing is one of those things that bonds families together . Enjoy it .

Way to go WIP team! Nice catch Austin. Mangrove snapper are a very good eating fish and a great one to have as your first "keeper"! Austin, you will keep getting better and then you can do like my boys and outfish the captain.*thumbsup*

Excellent!
I waiting for the time when I can take my little fisherman out for some "keepers". For now, we'll have to settle for some pinfish to get him started.
Keep it up....
