Catching croakers on Friday in flat water with the daughter and one of her friends. Saturday was the day as the blues and Spanish were boiling the water at the Rock Jetty until the tide crested, then it was back onto the croakers. Sunday morning a few more blue and Spanish but it fell flat mid-morning, catching nothing but undersize black bass. All in all a beautiful weekend to be on the water.

Thats not a bad days haul!!

I see a Jack, some blues (yellow eyed sewer trout ;D), spanish macs , seabass, and croakers. Is there something else there that I cant make out? Two fish below the second seabass what is that?

There may have been a spec or two in the crowd. I didn't catch 'em so I don't remember what day that was. The two fish in question I think were spots. The pompano on the 2x8 was given to us by the guy cleaning his haul prior to us, so I can't brag on it.

The guy after us came in with some HUGE kings. I stood around like a little street urchin watching him clean them up, hoping he would throw a couple of steaks my way. It didn't happen. :(

Another guy staying at the same motel as us, caught 105 trout last Tuesday. He was playing round robin with them in the bait well, throwing out the smaller ones and keeping the bigguns' as he was way over limit.

Hey Shake,

Great to meet and talk with ya last weekend! Got your boat rigged real nice and I envy anyone who can get the whole family excited about fishing and spending time together on the water. What makes it more special is that they’re all girls – man, that’s a dream family if I ever saw one!

You did real good on the fishing this weekend – a lot better than Teresa and I. Teresa is a die-hard flounder seeker and I promised here I’d try and put her on some flat fish. After you called us over to the Spanish bite, I (having left all my Spanish, and just about every other kind of tackle in my boat shed) tied on the closest thing I had available – a fishfinder flounder rig with a 1 oz egg sinker leading a small silver spinner and hook tipped with a squid strip. I trolled up one Spanish about 15 inches long and that was the end of that. That egg sinker/spinner rig had my lines so twisted up I had to take the rig’s off and drag the lines to un-twist ‘em before settling back into our drifting mode. Now, if anyone is partial to lizard fish – big ones and lots of ‘em, I can put them on the honey hole 001

Went out Friday by myself for a scouting/fishing trip and caught several flatties (all undersize) but came up zero on Saturday in the same areas – which is unusual, considering the weather/sea conditions were virtually the same, save the boat traffic, which was a 10-fold increase on Saturday, as usual.

Got my GPS/Sounder in this week and I’ve been to the Boat World and West Marine a couple times this week gathering some other goodies to rig (and play with) next time I venture out. Hope to have it all installed today – if my back holds out and I can figure how to contort my seriously old and overweight body into position under the console to wire all this crap 008

Hope to see ya again.

Sarge,

Good to meet you and the little woman also!

I got the lead on a couple of flounder holes. I'm going to check 'em out hopefully the weekend of 10/26. Let me know if you're going to be in the water... maybe we can "divide and conquer".

Good deal, can never have too many "flounder holes"! I plan to spend quit a bit of time on the water next week. If I find any "holes" worthy of marking, I'll be happy to share 'em witcha. May have to go to Raleigh on that weekend to visit the Grandkids, but if not, I'll call or email ya and we can hook up somewhere.
