Do you stilll use those Pirate Plugs?
If so, do you have an illustration of how a ballyhoo or cigar minner is rigged to the thing.
Whatever

I wanted to see how the hook fit into the head....just can not grasp internals of how it fits.
I am probably just going to go ahead and order two of em and saee how I like em.
Thanks any way.....

I haven't used them John... Capt. Mick has, in this post and testimonial. http://carolinaskiffowner.com/showpost.php?p=25239&postcount=3
Just looking at them, it looks like a plastic skirted, special jig head, with a snelled #4 live bait hook and a couple of stinger trebles, very similar to a double stinger live bait king rig. I'm guessing that you would snap off the bally beak short and run the nose hook up through the head, a little farther up the head than you would run the pin up through the head on a sea witch rig, (to allow the eye of the hook to rest about even with the front tip of the 'hoo, and then attach one or both of the stingers into the side of the 'hoo. I'd want to wire the shank of the nose hook with several wraps of copper to keep that hook cinched up to the front of the head *006*
I need to order some myself. They do look like an effective option to put in the spread to complement my skipping and shallow swimming baits.

Thanks Dave,
I do not like nor will I use a pin rig....unless I absolutely have to.... LOL. I do not like wrapping copper and have used rubber bands with more success. I have painful fingers and those two things mentioned cause me a lot of grief in terms of hurting my fingers.
I have been using something called a hoo nose. It is a small plastic (green, orange or yellow as I remember) thing that fits over the ballyhoo's beak and has a snap that pushes under the chin. Simple, no fuss, no muss can be re-used very easily. But alas, the company does not make them any more. I am down to my last six.... These things are simple and the help a hoo to run true....however using a chin weight skews up the equation.
Every thing else requires the use of a pin type rig.
I saw the pirate plug and like the idea of the weight in the nose piece. Just got to figure out how the bait is held to the hook
I am gonna order a couple and give em a try.....heck if they do not work, I can just throw them on top of the other thousands of dollars worth of stuff that did not work....LOL

How'd you rig 'em up Broke?
John, I have used the hoo nose, many years ago, and they are a simple way to rig a ballyhoo. One of our members used them last year. If I remember correctly, he said the only place he could find them was Custom Marine Fabrication and Sport Shop in New Bern.

I used dead cigar minnows .The circle hook right up through the bottom of the mouth and come out between the eyes.Bait runs right up bebind the weight part.
Here's an old thread. The top is a pirate plug and the bottom is a williamson plug.I don't know who came up with these first.
