Hello all, new here but have been a member of the MSN CS owners site also for a while now. I own a J-14 now which I'v had about 3 years now. Found the boat sitting next to the road for sale while on my way to look at some alluminum boats for sale. It had a large front deck and a storage seat in it. Nothing else. It was only a couple of years old at the time and for 900.00 it seemed like a pretty good deal. I bought a new trailer for it and started out with a 15 hp 4 stroke yammi which turned out to be to little power. So I sold that one and got a 25 hp 4 stroke yammi, electric start, tiller drive, and now I have all the power I need. I have done a lot of work to the boat to make it work for me. I added a pedistal seat on the front deck along with a bow mount trolling motor. I added a short rear deck to the back which was taken off a dlx. I got it for 50.00 and with a little alteration it makes a nice standing area with my storage seat butted up against it in the back. Also added a bimini, made some hatch covers for the front deck and added a passenger seat up towards the front and have had a great boat. BUT I'v wanted something a little bigger for a while now so I just ordered a 2480 dlx from chatlees about a week and a half ago. So I will have 2 skiffs, one for lakes, bass and crappie fishing and maybe a little bay fishing for shallow saltwater fish from time to time, and one for Gulf of Mexico fishing, deep and shallow for anything I can catch. Will use the big boat for playing around the intercoastal and islands and beaches down in the pinellas county area. Clearwater, St Pete, Dunedin. Will post some pics when I get the new boat. The new boat is a 2480 dlx with a 140 4 stroke suzuki, 25" transom, front hatch covers, X-Large slick console with Hydroalic steering, hour meter, water seperator, single live well in rear deck, on a tandom axle, galvanized trailer with brakes. Can't wait to get her. Got to be a her to be that expensive.LOL. Chatlees gave me a great deal. Nat has worked great with me on the purchase. He was the sales rep that my brother bought from back in March so I asked for him for my purchase. Looking forward to some good info for my boats on this site. Seems like a good one.

Thanks FLboy3,

Lots of guys here bounce between the two sites. Really the only sites on the net that I've found CS speific.

Sounds like your going to be getting yourself one heck of a boat. I got my first skiff back in March, a 198 DLV and fell in love with all the versatility these boats can be used for.

Just sorry I didn't go bigger from the get go & I would like to sell my boat and step up to a 238 DLV ASAP.

Enjoy your new boat and enjoy the site.
Lots of great folks here and we are gathering up steam and great skiff info, photo's and tips as well.

Hope to see you here often and I bet your chomping at the bit for your new rig.
Good luck with it and thanks for signing up !!

Harry

Thanks Tom, Fort Desoto is one of my favorite places, camping, fishing, just hanging out on shell island. Will give you a shout when I get the new boat and I'm going to be down in that area. You can show me some good fishing spots on the south side of the Skyway.
