I have recently gotten a HB 797 Side scan unit and need to know were to mount the transducer on the hull. Any pics would be great.
Boat is a 19' DLVElite
Thanks in advance.

the best advice I can give you is to make a cheap suction cup mount and play with it til you get the best reading I just did it nd it took the third attempt to get the best signal hare is the temp setup i used

The only problem with using a sub base for determining where to mount your 'ducer is that 1) The sub base takes some materials and time to make, 2) The temporary mount holds the 'ducer away from the transom (not flush like it will be when finally mounted), and 3) It is hard to mark the precise mounting location for the 'ducer base while the temp mount is in place, and the slightest change in horizontal/vertical location may change the optimum reading you have worked so hard to discover.
For a cheap, fast and easy to use method, try using double sided carpet tape. Trim the tape even, or just shy of the outside edges of the 'ducer mount and (when you are satisfied with the location) you can mark it easily, or just leave the tape in place, and drill and screw the base to the transom.
