i have a 17 ft dlx with a 50 hp johnson 2 stroke, is this too little of a motor for the boat?

Yes, For me it is not enough. But we all have different needs. I ran into a guy that fishes 12 miles off shore in the same boat as mine, a 1765DLX and has a Honda 50hp 4 stroke, he says he loves it.
