*003*I just bought a 19' DLV, DLX console and a Yamaha 115 on the back this is the second Carolina Skiff that I have owned and I would like to put a stereo in the console. I thought about cutting a shelf out of starboard and putting it towards the front of the console just above the fuel tank and putting the speakers on each side of the console. Looking for any other ideas that anyone else might have. I go ti pick the boat uo this Friday and I'm brainstorming some ideas.

Welcome aboard Cryan.

I think there is enough room on your console to mount a stereo, but the starboard shelf idea is exactly what I did. Good luck.*thumbsup*

Cryan, I just made a stereo shelf out of mahagony and place a Poly planor water proof radio in a water proof shell. The shelf is held up by 2 glavanized bolts that I drilled threw the console behind the backrest. I will post pics tomorrow,Jeff.

Depending on how large your stereo is, there is room th flush mount it on the vertical area above the tank.

Here is how I mounted mine. Purchased a piece of stainless (aluminum would work) and mounted the radio and rounded the corner and smoothed the edges.

Then I drilled out two of the factory rivets holding the edge trim on the console cutout and used as mounting locations for nuts/bolts. Drilled 1 more hole in the trim ring for a nut/bolt for additional support. Here is the final product:

Hope this helps, or at least opens up some new ideas....

With a serious lack of space I did mine this way:

I mounted the speakers here, and surprisingly they sound great! I think the sound bounces off the gunwhales instead of going out into space. It was completely unplanned, as the only reason for this spot is it was the only area on the console with no obstructions.
