its slowly becoming time for me to work again. supposed to be starting Tax classes (teaching) around oct 10 or maybe a little later... not to mention the "incliment" weather every chance it seems chum and i get to hit the water.
we did manage two trips this week, not much to show via pictures, but we did catch some fish, and chum's got a story for ya and some action shots where I got schooled bringing a toothpick to a gunfight. ;)
(edit: why do they put the "i" next to the "o" on a keyboard? a missed key turns "shots" into something else! 005)

Well, as Trim-Tab said, he brought a toothpick to a gun fight, lol....
We stopped off at my favorite spot where this year the grouper come up on the flats and you can catch them fishing in about 4 feet of water. Fishing was a bit slow (there was a front blowing thru which didn't help matters) so Trim-Tab decided to toss out his ultra light (Okuma Epixor 10). Of course, this is when a large grouper decides to make his presence known.....

The grouper was able to get into some structure that we were not able to get him out of. Unfortunately, we were taken to school about 4 times, each time being unable to stop the run for cover (even with larger tackle).
The night before, we were passing a lighted dock we've been saying we should fish for about a year, and on the second cast I hooked into what I first thought was a snag, then when it started to move I figured it was a bull redfish, and finally ended up being a 28 inch, 11 lb grouper! Caught on my little Okuma Epixor 20 and 10 lb test PowerPro while fishing the lighted dock about 50 feet from shore. I was tossing a Gulp! shrimp and worked it on the bottom next to the dock.

that thing was bent at angles it was never meant to bend. lol
I apparently was fishing on the opposite side of his structure, because right up until it found it's hole, I was doing quite well on the toothpick... then it took out a few feet of line and that was that.

there are reputable dealers out of louisiana that sell fresh-packed (frozen) farm-raised gator online and will ship it to your door... but as you might expect, it can get expensive.

Not sure of the brand name, but that hat-light was purchased (shhhhh) at WalMart for about $7. I have seen other models at Bass Pro with 5 LED's for about $10. It runs off of 2 quarter sized 2032 batteries, and has seen a lot of use for over a year and still on the original batteries (2 replacement batteries would be about $5)
Its a real life saver for me as the years go by my night vision, well, pardon the phrase......SUCKS! This allows me to see what I'm doing and tie knots, measure fish, etc. while having full use of both hands. Its a 5 Star, 2 thumbs-up recommendation for anyone in the dark. (it even helps me find my way after I dock the boat, turn off all the dock lights, and have hands full of rods and tackle).
