I spoke to Yamaha Service rep and I asked him which fuel filter/water separator he recommends and he said it was the Yamaha mini-10 Micron Fuel Filter. For use with Y 115hp and under.
Anyone have this product?
Any feedback appreciated.
I don't know the specific filter to use for a yamaha, but water separators have been discussed often, here's a thread that you might find helpful.

Let us know if you don't find an answer there and I'm sure one of the yamaha owners here will help with more specific answers to your questions. *thumbsup*

yeah I never saw it either until I spoke to yamaha. Looks like a basic setup. No clear bottom like the Racors. They come in stainless steel too.

FD, just how "mini" is that filter? I have a Moeller to install but it is huge and looks like overkill for a 25. I would prefer a compact unit and if it says Yamaha on it, all the better by me.
Thanks

I just had a Yahama fuel filter installed on my 238DLV Yama 150 4S with a 10 micron filter, recommended by dealer same as Racor without the glass bottom. Take the filter off and shake-it if water comes out its working

For what it's worth my 9.9 yamaha had the mini, my current 90 hp has the full size, I would push for the full size, the mini may restrict your fuel flow.

I have a Yamaha F115. I had the dealer install the Yamaha stainless steel base with a Racor 10 micron racor element and clear bowl. The racor element fits the Yamaha base perfectly. The dealer said they do that all the time. I also found good information on this site http://www.thehulltruth.com/shipyard-isl-marine-engine-parts/49972-ss-yamaha-racor-filter-bases-available.html.

I just installed the Suzuki mini filter/water separator on my J16. It is much smaller than the standard filters including the Yamaha mini. It is made by Racor and has the clear lower bowl that lets you see if you have a water problem. It's not cheap, but it takes up much less space on a small boat. With a 30hp engine, that's all you need. 28 micron for carbureted engines and 10 micron for fuel injection.
This is the same as the Racor 120 series filter:

It's the smallest 10 micron water trap filter made. Replacement elements are about $20.

got the Yamaha Mini-10 filter the other day. It's about 6 1/2" long and about 3 1/2" wide.
