i want to install a 1" diameter drain **** at the bottom of the transom of my '08 2180 dlx car. skiff. this will drain any water from the space under the floor and the bottom of the boat. don't know how thick the bottom construction of my boat is. need advice from the board on where to bore the hole for the drain **** installation at the lower end of the transom. the number of inches, etc from the outside bottom of the boat. i assume the hole should be at the center of the transom. will appreciate any help. ken.

Lots of discussion on this on the CSO site. Use the search tab and type in "drain plug" (not the "c" word that will call out the cussin police) and you will get lots of threads with good information. There is some discussion in several of them about installing a "draincock," what kind to buy, and how to do it (installing the plug, that is ;D).
