Any experience, good or bad, with this chartplotter? Will be using it in coastal areas of the Chesapeake on my DLV 258.

Also, looking at the Raymarine C80, with the bigger display, and a bigger cost -- $650 more than the A65. Don't think the C80 is worth the extra money.

But, would appreciate any comments on the C80 vs the A65. Thanks...

I just installed one but no real world experience with it yet. NEM has 2 on his skiff - I'm sure he will chime in.

I have a set of A65's like Fillet said. I really like them, the only thing is that the GPS antenna is not WAAS, the machine is ready for it but you gonna have to spend another 150 bucks to get the WAAS antenna. As far as the units are great for the money, i really love the depthfinder/fishfinder, is really clear and is also digital. C80's are exact same thing as far as cartography, so i really don't see why i should get one, if you go with the E80, then is a different story. Raymarine came out with new A series machines which are 3D capable and use same cards as the E series.

Thank you both for responding. NEM: Looks like you have modified your console with a cabinet that sits on top into which your A65's are mounted. A clever idea. Can you tell me more about it, and where I might get one? Thanks....RACCAR

I made the cabinet out of fiberglass and spray paint with awlgrip white gloss.

Or a backup, best to have 2 of everything really....especially for any offshore buisiness. We were out an a guy called asked if he could follow us in...his chartplotter went out......didnt even have a compass on board....

Use one as GPS and the other as sounder, if one of them fails i can split the screen on the good unit and go my merry way, besides, they look good when are pairs ;D. Not much off shore on this boat, but on my other boat is a must for twin screens.
