new here -looking into buying a new 18jvx w/ a 75 4 stroke honda -two questions in mind -will it have enough horseys to comfortably pull up a skier -will have to use it as the family lake ride as well as my primary fishing boat mainly for lake stripers-second if i get this boat in a side console will i have more floor space than with the center console -havent been able to put my eyes on a side console in that model and cant find any floor specs on the c.s. website -figured i could mount a pedastal opposite the drivers seat for the passenger - been on many center console boats and i'm just not to fond of the wasted space with the big console -seems like all u really need is a steering wheel ,couple of gauges and some switches;D -- i know the quality is there -just wondering bout some of the details-also does anyone know of a dealer in s.c. or round clarks hill that will take a prospective buyer out on test drive-just want to see how it acts on the water

Welcome aboard. I'm also not too familiar with that boat, but what ever you deside make sure you take her out for a spin or two just to get the feel and also see if you can have a guy or two with you to see how she acts with a decent load.

Welcome aboard jmp *Cheers*

I don't think you would have a problem skiing off a 18' JVX w/75 horse. I'm not sure of the layout of the side console I have a cc. I got my boat last year from Coastal Marine which is just outside of Myrtle Beach. They had a large stock of skiffs and taking a test ride was no problem.

thanks yall-myrtle beach is a good peice from here but it would be worth it to be able to take it out for a test-will probably bring the boss and two younguns along to add the weight of a fully rigged boat-salesman at the local marina is a nice guy but said once we got it rigged out and ready to go we could test it out -thats a little late n the game for me-also i know i said i'm looking at a new one but i cant seem to find any used c.s. out there -i would be interested in a slightly used 198 dlv-i know its about the same size but will take up to a 115-i dont want to be in a raceboat but i really dont want it to be underpowered-again thanks for the input so far -maybe i can make up my mind with a little help from some current owners

jmp,

Try looking in the dock sale forum here, I think there are a few boats listed.
