Ok, tried out the TM for the VERY first time. Actually went to dip it into the water the VERY first time. The head slipped from my hand and it dropped a little more rapidly then expected. The two half circle pieces came in contact with one another and the collar on the TM broke off.
Unfortunatly, I can not find my owners manul now. (BTW, does Minn Kota have a spot to get another one)
My questions are, what is the nomenclature of the part shown, the price, how much, where can I find it, how often does this happen, and how hard is it to replace?
The TM still works, I have the piece and if it comes down to it, I am sure I can fix it with some plastic expoxy.
I am a little shocked that this part is made of plastic and it broke as easy as it did. I didn't realise you had to be so gental with something of this nature.

I don't remember which motor you have? If it's like mine (I have the RT 80 tiller controlled), I think I still have my manual. I will look and see if you don't get an answer to your question. My guess is you should be able to get a parts list from MK. Shoot me a PM if you don't find out what you need.

Well I got the part name and number. Minn Kota was nice enough to send me an owners manual through email.
I aslo found the Illustrated Parts Breakdown section of the owners manual online if anyone needs it.

I am still shocked that this piece broke so easy. I am wondering why they didn't make it of some sort of alloy.
Smart A*s hat on.... Probably cheaper and the warranty doesn't cover accident, misuse, or mishandling - sorry Ed, couldn't resist ;D Smart A*s haf off *thumbsup*

Actually, since it is a brand new motor I would be surprised if MK didn't cover it. I mean who's to say that part wasn't defective to begin with. I'm sure that if this was a common problem MK would have engineered a change before word got out that they were fragile. Haven't had any problems with my Riptide Pro so far and I have banged it down when adjusting depth several times. You should take the motor to the nearest MK authorized repair center and see what they say.

I can assure you warranty would cover that!
On second thought Ed, maybe there was a hairline crack in the part that caused it to separate when you dropped it. *006* That would surely be covered.

Your righ Brian. Kelly at Minn Kota said it would be covered. I called a local warranty repair shop and they said bring it in, everything is covered. *thumbsup*

I would hope that was the case because it wasn't like it was a slam.
