Well... this isn't something you see everyday, a beached whale at CALO. Unfortunately they had to put her down.

Where was Hancock to throw it back in the ocean??
I just a few minutes ago, caught that on one of the local news channels. Sad when that happens.

A right whale stranding this week off Cape Lookout
Don't really understand that part unless it was on the "shoals" and couldn't get off.
Actually on Davis and Portsmouth Island each year there are at least one or two whales that wind up on the beach. It's sad, not a clue why. *006*
Some "they" say, are injured by boat props or nets.... Idono, I'm guessing some might get sick and/or just get singled out and then get pushed up on the shoals and beaches by marauding sharks *006*

There is a shoal that jets out about 15 miles into the ocean.
