Hi Guys...

I just about have the DLV 218 March 2008/ 115 E-tec Salt Water series about to hit the waves but I had a bit of a pbm*001* with attaching the coaxial cable to the base of the antenna. Shakespeare 8 foot antenna and my buddy and I sottered the coaxial cable to the chrome base that attaches to the back of the VHF radio but it pulled loose. Do any of you have any good suggestions to attach the coaxial cable to that connector that is the "correct way"? :secret:

Sure would appreciate your suggesstions. I have the instruction that came with the antenna ( westmarine store).

Thanks ....*014*

You have to follow the instractions to the t. Other wise it will come loose. There is also a ferule(a plastic white gasket look alike), make sure you don't loose that and make sure you use it where is suppose to go.

If you want something better, go to Radio Shack or any electronics store and get the one that "pinches" the coax cable, those come in gold plated and the are much better than the stock ones.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a radio shack near by and will stop by tonight after work to see what the have... I will let you know how it works out.

I really appreciate the advise....

Can't wait for spring so I can get to the West Coast Of Florida ( St. George Island,MexicoBeach, HOrseshoe Beach...) and test out all the new toys I have added to the boat.....

Thanks again.

The Shakespeare instructions are pretty descriptive and *should* give you a step by step. See this; http://shakespeare-marine.com/pdf/pl-259-58-g.pdf

Otherwise, here's an oldie but a goodie; http://www.carolinaskiffowner.com/showthread.php?t=1728&highlight=coax

Randell,
I think that's what I used. It's a compression fitting no soldering involved.
