I'm picking up a 198 DLV Elite in February. I live in Wilmington, NC. I'm very excited about the DLV. I had a Boston Whaler 15' Super Sport with a 2 stroke 70 Yamaha for about 6 years and it treated me well. I hope the Carolina Skiff with do the same. I never had a 4 stroke outboard, hopefully it wont give me any trouble. I am looking to get some good top speed out of it, does anyone have a suggestion on a good prop pitch to get me up in the low 40s. Aluminum vs SS? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks Pete

Welcome.
I asked CS what they would suggest for that size boat and motor and Sabrina sent me an email stating that they tested the boat with a 3 blade 14x20 and 14x21. Don't know what material. Also she could not provide andy testing results.
We have a 13.75x19 and I think we are under propped.

The one thing I remember about 4 stroke motors is that you have to look over your shoulder to make sure the motor is running... It' soo quiet!!!!
You will love the 4 stroke!!!! I have had 2 strokes all my life until 2 years ago. They are the best thing since sliced bread far as gas mileage and quietness. Too Tall said it right look over your shoulder.

Yea, congrats Marion. I have ridden in a DLX before but never a DLV or an Elite for that matter. Word on the street the Elite rides even better than the DLV because it weighs about 400lbs more.
I can't wait to get mine but I will keep having to wait until it is ready.
