Took the boys fishing this weekend in Tampa Bay. When I got home had a red nylon net wrapped around my prop. My prop had cut the majority of it off but it looks like some got under my prop hub. How hard is it to remove the prop off a 140 suz. What should I inspect while it is off. THe seal ????? How can I tell if it did any damage to the seal other then visual inspection???

a visual inspection of the seal is about all you can do. check to see if any gear lube is leaking out around the prop shaft. you are doing the right thing by going ahead and pulling off the prop now. a friend had the same thing happen and didn't take the time to pull the prop and inspect. his lower unit suffered b/c of his laziness. all his gear oil dumped out of the prop shaft seal. that was expensive for him 004!

I hope everything is ok. I don't mind spending money on the boat just not repair money. I like upgrading stuff. The net looked almost like 200lb test line. I will have to wait til this coming weekend to check it out. I am back in hernando until Friday. I didn't get to bring the boat up yet but I can tell the family (including me) is itching for a weekend on crystal river. Won't be long.

Give it an eyeball inspection for any leaks......other than that...........if your not sure...... stop by a mechanic and let them give it an eyeball since the prop is already off.

Great news I pulled my prop tonight and the net apparently never even made it passed the inside of the prop. No damage to the seal what so ever.
