Does anybody know anything about the garmin 440sx? Thanks for the help. Got a 198dlv on the way.

Hey obxdlv... did you get the 440SX mounted on the dlv? I just ordered a 440S (can't afford the SX 006) and was wondering if you had any words of wisdom to pass along. Did you drill and mount the xducer directly to the transom or use a custom bracket?
Thanks!

IS the only diffence between the 440 "S" and 440 "SX" the weather channel thing ?
I'm looking at the 440 S and wonderer how you guys like'em . Can you tell me a little about them? I had the 498C and it went with the boat I just sold.
Thanks

Harry, it's my understanding that the GPSMap440S comes complete with tranducer. The 'X' gives you the satellite/subscription based NEXRAD and other weather options... not sure if it has the tranducer or not. I based my purchasing decision on info posted here at CSO and some correspondance with Flipper.
I really like my 440s, but it's the only GPS/ChartPlotter I've ever owned so I have nothing to compare it to. 006

Harry, you can still pick up a NEW 498c at a couple places pretty cheap too. I just got a 492c (I like seperate units) and can't wait to get it installed. If you're looking around (damn I hate to do this) check out BOE on the hulltruth web site. Good prices, free shipping and quick too.

I have the 440 in my 20JVX. Excellent unit. There are a couple minor things I'd like to see changed or altered for my personal tastes, but overall it's an excellent unit.
