Well not very often do I get the time off to spend with my Family who live 4 hours away so my plans this week are to load up the boat and head out to my dads and striper fish on Kerr this week. Cant wait my dad loves to fish but getting some age on him and not too many people he'll fish with.
Plan on going tomorrow and fishing most of the week. My sis has a house on Kerr so we'll be there around Goat Isl.
I haven't fished there in ages, I grew up on Kerr as a kid and remember my dad taking me a some pals down when we were 14-15 yrs old and he'd drop us off for the day with his boat and come back and get us in the afternoon, I bet that wouldn't happen now dayz..
back in those dayz I didn't give a hoot about fishing...it was riding sunning and looking at the ladies....water skieing....cant wait to go.
I'll post when I get back on what we catch or what we don't catch!
Just the quality time with my dad is what I think Im looking forward to more than anything*thumbsup*

Well I went the last 3 day in a row and the first day....crappie and white bass jigging was all we did. 2ed day weeeehhh whata blow. Nothing waaayyy too windy but I wanted to go. Well yesterday great day. Fished longwood area and fished between 1-5pm landed 15 fish on live bait w/planer boards, several fish over the slot and most fish 25-26" fish.
I had caught some nice baits the night before at nutbush but they went belly up by Tuesday morn. So I ended up just running up to Clarksville and getting some large bass minnows.
Good luck to all and have a prosperous and Happy New Year

Sounds like a nice trip. Congrats!
I have always wanted to fish Kerr. Any tips? Do you troll live bait on planer boards?
Last weekend, I fished Jordan and managed to find some shad. Aside from some cats and a big break off, nothing too much going on.
Happy New Year and tight lines!

WJ, this past weekend I used planer boards w/ large bass minnows, the bait there runs small anyhow 3" bait is it. I had a few large shad that died the night before. But I fished right across from the Longwood landing which is on HWY 15 south of Clarksville about 5 miles. These fish were out of a feeder creek I didnt fish the main body of the lake, in the past I know of some nice fish being caught. I just wanted some quality fishing with my dad and looked like the creeks were a better bet.

Thanks WH. I live pretty close to Kerr but have not had the chance to fish there.
How deep do your planer boards run and how much line do you run behind them? I have some 00 planers that I use at the coast for spanish mackeral with about 3' of 40 lb fluoro behind them.
Thanks WH.
Tight lines!

Bill , 15-20 pulls and then I attached the planer boards w/ 20lb floro.
I was marking fish in 25-40 ft of water. It's been pretty good on Kerr from what I hear.
This was the first time I fished it in years...good luck
