How To Winterize Suzuki

Guys, try to make this simple for me. I am going to winterize the engine next weekend. I already changed oil in the head and lower unit, and stabilized the gas. I'm hearing a lot of different ways to winterize the head; some say spray fogging oil, some say a mixture of mystery oil and gas. PLEASE guys; any input would be greatly appreciated!

Wish I could help more, but I had the dealer shut it down $230 bucks. I do know they run anti freeze through the cooling system though.

Down here in FL there is no such thing as winterizing your motor. Run it year round. :)

Sounds like your well on you way.....

Skill level needed from 1-10: (2)
Time: Less than 1 hr


After oil changes....Make sure you also change out your water separator if you have one.

You'll need...
• Engine muffs
• 3-5 gallons of Pink (eco friendly) antifreeze
• winterizing kit available at BW $35 (includes antifreeze tank and all hose fittings needed
• fuel stabilizer
• fogging spray
• *save your receipts in case of future warranty issues
All supplies will cost about $70-75 at Boaters World but the kit ($35) can be used year after year.

1. Add the fuel stabilizer and top off the tank
2. Set up the kit and Muffs as per directions (Don’t use garden hose side port)
3. Remove engine cover
4. Turn on fresh water supply
5. Start the engine and run for 5 to 10 min to get the engine temp up and treated fuel circulated
6. Use bypass vale to cut off water supply and start drawing from antifreeze tank
7. allow to run while monitoring engine temp and antifreeze tank level
8. As the antifreeze gets low spray fogging spray in to the engines air intake (see manual)
9. Engine will smoke or stall, shut off engine
10. Remove plugs and spray in fogging spray (I think directions said less than 1 oz. check that)
11. Replace plugs & cover
12. Wash, wax, cover boat
13. Wait for spring

Thanks Guys just looked at the owners manual and it doesnt say to flush with antifreeze.Dont know if Iam going to do that never did with my 2 stroke.Iam not looking at the engine right now just wondering on the 175HP can you get to the fly wheel or is it alot of work the manual wants you to spray fogging into the spark plug holes then rotate the fly wheel several rotations what do you think ?

This is what i did Paul.


TO WINTERIZE MY DLV238

CONNECT ENGINE TO WATER SUPPLY(EAR MUFFS) AND START MOTOR, RUN IT FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES THEN SHUT OFF MOTOR AND DISCONNECT WATER.
CHANGE ENGINE OIL(REPLACE OIL DRAIN GASKET) AND OIL FILTER.
CHANGE GEAR OIL.
CHANGE FUEL FILTERS.
PUT STABILIZER AND E10 ADDITIVE IN FUEL TANK.
REMOVE ENGINE COWLING.
CONNECT ENGINE TO WATER SUPPLY(EAR MUFFS).
START AND RUN MOTOR AT 1500 RPMS FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES TO DISTRIBUTE THE STABILIZED FUEL.
AFTER THE 5 MINUTES, SPRAY FOGGING OIL INTO THE AIR INLET HOLE UNTIL THE ENGINE STARTS TO SMOKE.
STOP THE ENGINE AND DISCONNECT THE WATER SUPPLY.
REMOVE THE SPARK PLUGS AND SPRAY FOGGING OIL INTO THE PLUG HOLES. ROTATE THE FLYWHEEL A FEW TIMES BY HAND TO DISTRIBUTE OIL AND TO DRAIN THE WATER FROM WATER PUMP. INSTALL NEW SPARK PLUGS GAPPED AT 0.7-0.8mm
OR 0.028-0.031 inch.
LUBRICATE THROTLE AND SHIFT LINKAGES, REMOVE PROPELLER AND LUBRICATE SHAFT(COVER SHAFT WITH A PLASTIC BAG AND TIE IT WITH A TIE DOWN)AND STORE PROPELLER, WITH A GREASE GUN LUBRICATE THE SWIVEL BRACKET AND STEERING BRACKET(3 PORTS TOTAL), SPRAY ENTIRE POWER HEAD WITH CRC656 AND REINSTALL THE ENGINE COWLING.

OPEN RAW WATER SPOUT AND LIVE WELL SPOUT AND CONNECT THE BLOW SIDE OF A SHOP VAC TO THE RAW WATER INLET TO REMOVE ANY WATER STANDING IN THE LINES.
WASH THE BOAT IN AND OUT AND WAX THE OUTSIDE OF THE HULL AND ENGINE.
COVER THE BOAT WITH THE WINTER COVER.
