What do you guys think is the best motor/company to go with for a 200 HP 4 stroke motor? I plan on getting the 258 DLV but am having trouble with what motor I should go with

Howdy Hooked,
Cool name BTW..........
Is your heart set on a single motor? As you appear undecided, might I suggest a set of twins? After seeing Bush's twins, I don't think you'd be quite as happy with a BIG motor out the back, reasons why (in my opinion ONLY)
are: 1 deeper draft on the single motor ( I might be wrong, but mabe not)
2 reliabilty of 1 vs 2 motors, how far out you going?
3 The "cool" sound of twins
4 As my grandpappy ALWAYS said, " Son, you only go round once here, get what you want outta life, AFTER you work hard for it." Ya worked hard enough Hooked? This here is the boat that'll put the next 20 years under ya, mabe more. Your choice pal, if the bucks don't matter THAT much, get what you want pal. I'll be green with envy (shure could use the envy face here Harry!!) with whatever you decide to put on!
I guess the only question is, what do YOU like Hooked? You can see what's been done here, glean out of it what you like, come up with your own version (please post pics as you go along!!!) to something that fits you like a glove, ya know, night fishing, gigin, etc.
A skiff ain't nothin but a blank canvass, waitin fer you to paint................

oh yea,
Hey Hooked, feel free to post in the welcome section under "post a pic of you" Ya ain't got ta post your first name, but please notice some of us have, kinda makes us a bit more personal than most sites, but then again, we are givin everybody out there our own personal views on everything even showin our skiffs and mods made! Ain't no reason to be "non-tangibile" here, from what I see here, ain't nobody one-uppin anybody else. We do what works for us, an we share with each other. An opiniated but not judgemental crowd is what you've fell into, kinda rare on the net.
Hows it feel to fit in???????

As far as what brand of four storke I like best. As an owner of only one four stroke ever I just got my first in March. Went with a 90 hp Suzuki. Best bang for the buck IMO. Plus they offered a 6 year warranty and no extra cost. So far no complaints with it. Great running, quite engine.

I have been on boats with twin 225 Yamaha's and they too ran strong and quite as well. I guess it all depends on what you like best and the best deal you can find on one. I do know Suzuki won many awards last year and this, on there 4 stroke set ups.

Good luck and welcome aboard.... 012

Yea I really like how Suzuki has that 6 year warranty. I thinking about calling eds marine soon, I just need to test drive the 258 at a local place here in florida. I knew about eds marine before when i was looking for motors for my SeaArk. You guys just reinforced the idea to call them because they do have the best price for the skiff.

I just hope the boat moves fast with a single 200. I want speed! In florida the weather comes out of nowhere sometimes. Ive been stuck in some nasty weather where i just sit it out under a bridge because the boat is not fast enough to make it back :(. I stay inshore, flats fishing along the coast. I just need to be able to go fast when I start to see the clouds darken and the thunder roaring....... Also there is a show every Thursday, its called HookedOnfishing, They give out fishing reports as well as tips, and what stuff to try out. They also take in calls and emails. Hence the name because Im hookedOnFishing
