When I purchased my boat I was having alot of trouble getting it off the trailer. I cut some thick plastic material and screwed it to the existing bunks and that solved alot of the problem. My question is this. I will be getting my hands on alot of the 1" thick solid white plastic in about a month. I would like to see who would be interested in these bunkslides for a cheap price???? Or cut to size . This stuff is just like starboard.

Nice thanks Tom !!! 013

I have bunk slicks mounted on my trailer when I bought it. Also another trick is spray them down with some silicone spray after launching. Be sure to wipe off the excess and BECAREFUL, BECAUSE IT WILL LET THE BOAT SLIDE OFF ON IT'S OWN WHEN LAUNCHING !!!!
Do a search here and type in " Bunk slicks"

Thanks again for keeping our members in mind, Anyone that has carpet or other stuff on there bunks should get in touch with Tom. This stuff works GREAT....

PS,
Tom I'm moving this to the trailer section.....

Tom at the present time I spray my bunks about every third launch so I am very interested. How thick is the material and how much per foot.

This stuff is a little thicker then 1" and I can cut to any width. It will be a couple more weeks before I get my hands on it. You pay the shipping and I can hook you up a set for your trailer for around 30 bucks. I just need to know your dimensions. Keep in mind they may have to be pieced end to end.

That sounds great. When you are ready drop me a email. I think that they may be just the thing I am looking for.
They should really help in launching and retreiving my skiff. And the price is right. All I have to do is measure my present bunks and decide width and how many pieces I will need to cover the bunks. Thank
Capt. Herb ;D

Tom,
Do you have any issues with this material wearing down your gelcoat? Someone mentioned this in the other forum.

I had this same material on my prosport prokatt 22 trailer for over 3 years before I sold it. As far as I know it is still on the trailer. Every time I went diving I inspected the hull thoroughly. Never even the slightest hint of wear where the bunk slicks were rubbing. I personally don't see how this boat could be any different. However just as a precaution I look at the hull everytime I am in the water with a mask on. After about a year the front tips of my cat hull started showing wear on them. They were hitting the front bunk stop. I wished I would have put the plastic on when I did the bunkslicks.

To all. My material arrived and I will start fabbing the following weekend. I have to be in Naples all week and will not get a chance to work on anything for 1 more week. And to those who are asking the exact material. What it is, is solid plastic used in newer bathroom partitions in Publix grocery stores. I take out the old (no more then 2 years old) and reshape to your specs and put them some new ones in. I used to be able to get white and grey but now only the white are available.
When I make them. I will rip to width then take your length and divide it into my stock lengths and try and make them all the same length pieces. I then chamfer all edges with a tablesaw. I will predrill them and countersink them. All you need to do is take the screws of your choice and a cordless drill to the ramp with you next time you go and install. I did mine in about 5 minutes. I am going to drill a 3/16" hole with a 1/2" countersink about 1/4" deep. I used #8 ss screws with pan heads that were 2" long. If you need anything else just Call. I must warn all that these are very slick and to leave you bow safety chain on and your winch rope until you have the rear of the boat in the water deep enough to come off. I am not liable for boat coming off its trailer due to these slicks.

Tom---Original price was 3 pieces for $25.oo plus shipping. Makes each piece $ 8.00. This was for 12 foot, divided in 3 pieces= 48 inches. I asked for 4 pieces of 31/2 by 4 ft.--shouuld be $32.00. You asked me $75.00 for 4 pieces--$75.00 minus $32 equals $42.oo shipping. Is this right? George

Mudduck. I will gladly fab anything you like. My only thought is that are you supporting the boat correctly. Is your trailer set up with bunks that short???

If this is the qty. you need then $32.00 plus shipping which will be around $25.00. Let me know.

TOM

Will be in Naples all week but will gladly ship them to you next weekend.
