Margate...

Margate Marina, specifically...across from Memories...

My skiff is a V Series 198...I took off the graphics and replaced them with my own custom lettering...

Thats really clean! I wish I ordered the Deluxe Console with mine.

I never saw the need to have any gauges other than the Tach. A speedo is uneeded on a boat. the fuel gauge not necessary because we can see the fuel in the tank. A voltage gauge isnt really necessary either. (besides the GPS will give me the voltage anyway).

You freed up alot of room to mount those electronics! Now I'll be looking at my console kind of funny for a while. ;D Maybe a project for next year. I made a dash panel for my last boat.

I guess that once you nixed a few gauges and relocated everything you had all the wiring unsecured and that it gave you the opportunity to neaten up the wires under the dash?

Are you running dual batteries?

BTW

Did you run all accessories directly through that buss bar or is there anything running back to the batteries direcly? (aside from the bilge pump)

You have it down exactly...

No need for any gauges except tachometer...for those exact reasons...

I run dual batteries...one is a house battery (deep cycle) and the other is a cranking battery for the motor only...

The buss bar is a switched hot for all of the electronics and stereo (25 amp in-line fuse) and, obviously, the bilge pump is a constant hot run directly to the house battery...

I have the batteries run through a 3 way switch mounted in the rear near to the batteries...I kill them both after each trip to save juice since I don't have a charger on her...

That way, I know that I can always crank her up when I come back down...even if the bilge pump fails or the float switch gets stuck in the on position and drains the house battery or whatever...

Also, I pull the plugs at the end of the weekend so she won't fill with water...

Lollipop,
I live in Linwood across the bay from Margate. Sounds like you don't live down at the shore? If ever you need me to run over and check on the boat(Storm, etc) just give me a holler, I'll be glad to.

I wish I had seen this post prior to installing my electronics. I have the delux console and I was bummed that I did not have the room to mount my stuff in-dash. Of course this now gives me an idea for a storage compartment.

Storage for wallets and keys is a problem on the skiff...

We're adding some sort of drawer to the of the console...

Wallets, keys, medicine and cell phones, etc.....fit very nicely into a wide mouth 1/2 or 1 gallon water cooler jug and can be gotten at any store. Not expensive either. Been using them for years on the canoe trips with the Boy Scouts on the upper Delaware River trips. Still use one on the skiff. :)

Tank goes in the same spot shown in the first photo (before photo)

The GPS / Sounder is the Lowrance 332c...does the job nicely for this rig...
