Today, the Mar Vic Too made it's second trip of the fall chunking season in search of stripers. The first trip resulted in one skate. The second trip was much better. Lines in the water around 8:30 AM. First bite around 8:50 and a 38" striped bass was in the box by 9:00. As usual, a real challenge to get it in the net by myself. Then the dog sharks came and I boated about a dozen. I thought about moving, but I figured if a pro like Free Spirit was staying, I should too. I found that if I only put out head baits and no chunk baits, most of the shark activity ended. Tide changed around 11:00 as forecast and I stayed until I ran out of fresh bait around 12:30. Had a few more nibbles that resulted in empty hooks, but no more stripers went in the box.
Try for some more next week.
