Live in Charles Town, WV, we're 1.5 hours from the Cheasapeake Bay Bridge, intend to explore, fish, crab... want to boat in lots of different water, son is 10.... so we've settled on the JV17. Really wanted the DLV 218 Elite - but I can't garage it and it's a bit big to trailer everywhere... a few years in the 17 will be fun I reckon.

We're getting a factory pre-rig with the bimini top and detachable windshield, larger fuel cell... comes with the Suzuki 40... any "... Oh my gosh - hey watch outs!!!!?" before I execute on this contract later this week? Everything I've read and seen indicates this is going to be a move with not regrets.

Great site, cheers!

Welcome Harry,
Lots of good people with that name.... ;D

I have a pre-rig 2007 198 DLV with the 90 hp Suzuki & road king trailer package. Not sure what your looking at price wise on the JV17, But I can tell you this. Mine cost $14,500. Shop around if your way off base on price. Lots of customizing done to it. Use the search function and see what all has been added to her.

I was born in WVa and go through Charles Town every time we go back home to see the grandparents, Aunts, & Uncles. Charles Town is a beautiful area, Harpers Ferry too.

Welcome to the site and good luck with your new skiff. Lots of great people on this site , so join the crowd and make yourself at home here...........

We ended up with the JV-17 factory pre-rig, Suzuki 40 4-Stroke, Bimini top accessory as well as the quick-release windshield, trailer + the extended warranty for the engine (out to 6 years) total == 13,000.00 from Ed's Marine in Ashland, VA. Really wanted a larger boat... but I also want to keep it in the garage. We'll see how she does w/r to getting into the bay proper.

Looks like a great site, already picked up a lot of good info - trolling motor is next for freshwater fun as well as running a trot line.

Cheers,

MHM

You should not need a troling motor to run a trot line. Drag a bucket or two to slow you down if needed.
